Haylage year

It was a tough year to make hay. Most of it ended up in plastic but at least it's done. Well, still have some oats standing but doubt it will dry enough to salvage them.
It will be interesting to see how the cows fare on a pretty much straight silage diet this winter.

Biggest problem will be fat cows.

They should do fine, maybe want to get some straw if available to make some fill.

Straw is pretty hard to come by in these parts. I've got about 1000 dry bales half of which is carry over, so with the 2500 wrapped bales I have some options. I would like to have dry hay at calving time though, and I like to feed some in the fall before weaning to get the calves used to it prior to sale.
It's been a summer to remember for sure.

Nice job of baling and wrapping. The good part about it is you won’t run out of wet , frozen plastic.
