    First wreck of the season

If I remember right the calf was lying on the left side. I will make darn sure to feel for the ball at the end in the future. I have likely tubed 00 calves over the years and never had this happen. my time was up I guess. As this wreck was no fault of the cows, I am planning on breeding her...

Babies Don't Let Your Grammas Grow Up To Be Winter Calvers

NR that is a plan, would not be unlike the old days as I spent many nights curled up in the Bob James room sleeping off a gutfull of rum, then walking 20 feet to the office to provide excellent customer service!. I have to admit that May calving is looking good, but it does npot work for...

Babies Don't Let Your Grammas Grow Up To Be Winter Calvers

Excellent NR, and not far from my state of mind now, calving in the evening, work the job during the day. Tough business at -29 this am. However it will be a distant memory when I am done the 20 March and ready to do other projects. I am sure every black bear and wolf has an appreciation supper...

I have to agree NR, Poor editing and skill level does nothing to disprove local stereotypes of the home area of the host.

    More Rain in Alberta

We had 16 rain events in july, 14 in August and 8 in September. not a good start to harvesting grain for sure. we still have 400 ac of 2nd cut to put up yet, not fenced sao the cows vannot get to it if it keeps like this. definitely different than last year but is making for a lot of concern...

What have you done with your rained on hay?

With none of the next 6 days less than 65%humidity, I doubt that that is a possibility. I have 15 ac of beautiful 2nd cut down a week, less than 2tenths rain on it, but with no sun or heat in the forecast, it looks like it too will be going into the whit sock as well

What have you done with your rained on hay?

  I agree, but how many wrapped bales can I use in a year?, I am already 2 years ahead and have 2nd cut to deal with. it is better than drought   , I am considering wrapping all of the first cut next year. The issue here this year is that we have not had a day of less...

    Round Bale feeding...need experience

I agree 8) , but you cannot argue with the ease of using a processor, and not having to cut frozen twines off bales!. The least wastege i have had was when I used the HIline ino the 30' moveable bunks and moved them every week. This is very true when using bale silege.

What have you done with your rained on hay?

Sitting here we have had another rain move through, and will have another 3 days of rain to think over things. I just counted the feed fut up to date and it is as follows: Hay put up with no rain 0 .5 "rain 210 greefeed all plastic wrapped 1" of rain 60 hay bales dry - 200 greenfeed...

    Round Bale feeding...need experience

I use many different ways of feeding, as follows Excellent quality hay with minimal snow I will use a 3pt bale unroller. Cows will eat it all and there is not the feeding loss of the fines powdered up like a processor. Poor/average hay- I use a HiLine 7000HD in a long narrow windrow, this...
