It is great feed. The one issue can be Nitrates if it was under drought conditions.

Yes, we sell semen and bulls to commercial ranches that have Angus based cows. Some sell 1/2 blood bulls as commercial Angus bulls with no papers. Most use to toughen up their Angus. Make them better foragers and hardier. Have had older guys tell me the Galloway X Angus type cow was what...

    Feeding Lentils

As BMR said ration them. They are potent. I have some cattle get high sided, not bloated, but close. If you can grind it, they will utilize them better. I realize it is only 1500 lbs. I worked at a food grade processing plant. when we cleaned the lentils, the screenings contained wild...

    F1 cross guess the breeding

it looks a lot like the Waygu X Galloway steer I saw at a customers place. With all the "black" breeds being Angus based, I will just say Angus X Waygu. The Waygu look is dominant from the crosses I have seen.

    Hereford Xblack

For replacements use a black Galloway. Get the hybrid vigor, with a true outcross. The females make very efficient hardy momma cows. No Angus influence in Galloway.

They are both sired by Glenfiddich Pericles (bred in Ontario), and out of Jim Grant (Idaho) cows. They both were creep fed 2 weeks prior to weaning.

    Diesel additive

in the tractors, I run blended fuel 50/50. In the pick up. I run additive. Power service or Howes. I always put additive in, then fuel. -20 we are good. If you have only bio diesel, you may need 4X the amount. that crap gels at 20 above.

    When does More- become less

Many of my Canadian cattle producing friends tell me they have milder winters than we do. Not sure about BC, but northern Alberta, parts of Sask. In some cases it depends on how much snow cover one has, and how much feed one is willing to haul.
