There is a vet in meadow lake that does it. How many do you have to do

    Deadly C-Section

Interesting. I would love to say we havent had a C section in years, but we had a bad malpresentation last year on a heifer that needed to get cut out, as well as a torsion. Before that, it was a long time since we needed one

    Creep feeding calves?

Why you you sell a high fat creep? Buyers dont want pudgey steer calves, and you can potentially hurt your replacements

    Another Sale Catalogue

Had a real solid sale. Big thanks to north ridge that bought a thunder son out of a new day dam. He was the lead off bull and was a great calving ease prospect

    bio-moss

I see it as a poor mans Rumensin. It works okay, but not great. The only thing I see it working on is young calves in the shelters. Other than that, maybe some organic beef programs

    Bull sales

Its not easy being in the bull business but if you really like genetics and customer service you really enjoy it. Our sale is in a few weeks and we are doing alot of home work. Contacting customers over the past 6 sales is crucial to success. Any bull that is deferred better be damn good to put...

    Love Their Bulls!

Not that I have anything against forage raised bulls, as they will truly last a long time. However, how do you prevent promoting later developing bulls at 2 years old? there is a breed out there that sold nothing but 2 year olds for years, and now they are noted for later maturity, poor gains...

    Love Their Bulls!

Ah the age old debate about bull feeding management. We are on both sides of the fence on the topic. We sell yearling angus bulls, and we are in the market this year to buy a couple. We have bought both types of bulls, green and overfed. I try and look at the long term picture being what...

    Bull tour

Ya there is a big difference between the real world and "the twilight zone". I heard there was a sale in AB a few weeks ago with red angus calves weighing 1800+. Simply gross. It amazes me that people see this as ok, when steers at 13 months of age are considered finished at 1350-1400 lbs.

    Bull tour

Went on a bull tour yesterday looking to find a black heifer bull and a red herd bull. We went to 3 different operations that I was interested in. After the tour, I left pretty disappointed. There was some extremely useful bulls, but unforunately, a majority were severely over conditioned. 1...

weighed our bull calves - question for you all

Our weights were down, and we might have had the wettest year in a long time. I would agree that the drier the grass, the bigger the weights, and that also translates into the feed pile. Silages (even though yours might have been lower yield) typically test hotter in drier years. The equation...

    barley

Barley is a cool season crop. It does not like heat. If it gets about 90-95 degrees, essentially kiss it goodbye unless there is lots of moisture. A company I worked for tried growing it in Minn for research, however when it got to 100 degrees outside, it turned white and set down very little...
