I really don't know, could it possibly be when an investor thats never seen a cow, buys a bunch as a part of his portfolio, at least on paper, and they have calves and he cashes out his portfolio????

    Cattle Prices

Just checked a Monday sale here in TN. 600lb heifers brought 1.25lb, I watched them sell for 1.60 to 1.65 over the internet in some western sales yesterday. Does it take .40 lb to get them across the mississippi river to the feedlots?? I understand quality could be an issue along with lot...

    Horse Slaughter Bill

I know where there are about 25 or 30 that need to be slaughtered. Their owner is incarcerated and the horses are out on the highway all the time. The guy owns about 300 acres but the fences are terrible.

    Hi Capacity Wheel Rake

Broute, I owned a Vermeer Rebel wheel rake. I traded it for a Kuhn Speedrake. There's no comparison -the Kuhn is far better especially if you have any hilly hay ground. Love the Kuhn.

    WTH?

Well they can't cut the wages of those illegals and the salaried personnel don't want to take a pay cut. What a dilemma! Oh well someone somewhere will pay.

Alberta BSE caused by illegal Ontario importation

Rather than have readers here try to sift through so much material, how about someone knowledgeable summarize why these people alledgedly introduced the infected material into the feed. What were they gaining by doing so?

    Pantry Project......(finished pics pg 2)

We had the same things but I thought we called them "fruit cellars" because of all the mason jars of canned fruits they usually had in them. And as you said, they doubled for storm cellars many times. As time passed, many people built pump houses large enough to not only contain the pump...

    4H Achievement Day

Great looking kids, I know you're very proud of them. I was wondering if the 4H folks there have a summer camp for kids. Here in TN they do. It is one of my fondest memories, attending 4H camp when I was in the 4th grade.

Amazin what a rain will do for attitudes

Glad you got some rain Haymaker. Around here the hay is getting weedy, can't cut for raining every 2 or 3 days. Everyone is behind. The rowcrop farmers are in pretty good shape although some had to replant several acres which got too much rain.

Zero pass rate on neonatal swimming lessons.

What I noticed is, that sure seems like a small horse or else you are a larger than average fellow. Or it could just be the way the photo turned out.

N Bar Emulation EXT semen for sale

i'm not going to give you such a hard time . You might try the classifieds at Breeder's World. I don't think you'll have a hard time getting rid of it. The last time I saw it at Bull Barn it was $150. I like my EXT's never had the first problem with them. Good luck

    GDAR Gameday 449

I really thought that quote about linebreeding expressing genetic defects was what I said in my first sentence to Oldblood. But what I was getting at was wouldn't you get some seemingly "genetic defects" in any bloodline when intensely linebreeding? And it does seem to me that it sure is...

    GDAR Gameday 449

Oldblood, Linebreeding to the degree you were is, of course, what caused the problem to express itself. But don't you think with enough linebreeding you're going to get those genetic defects sooner or later. We just maybe give the defect a different name. Genetically some bloodlines may resist...

    GDAR Gameday 449

While we're on the subject, one of the guys who I buy semen from said he thought the attempt to develop a test for FCS would just eventually fade away because of the relative infrequency of FCS and the fact that many/most fcs calves go on to lead normal productive lives. As a matter of fact he...

    Alex Bagley

Its like someone else said, we all get on here and argue and debate but when something like this happens it kinda shocks you back into realizing what is important. Nothing could be worse than losing a child or grandchild. My condolences to the family.
