Hey NR are the deer up there still in velvet when it's time to let the arrows fly? He would be a perfect mount while he is in velvet? Looks like he has to slow down a little before you make a good arrow LOL!!!
I agree with you. We will usually sell about 20 commercial cows/heifers along with about every 75 bulls, but stay away from the registered females on bull day. Or bulls in the spring and females in the fall.
Just wandering what you guys prefered when buying bulls at a sale. Would you rather buy them at an all bull sale, or would you rather buy them at the yearly female sale? Just thinking about switching things up a little and thought I would float the idea.
Soapweed, sometimes when a calf gets stepped on in his flank area, the swelling will affect his spinal column resulting in a fluid build up in his/her hocks and pasterns. A dose of banamone and therapeutic excersise are the only way to relieve the nerve damage. If the nerve damaged is coupled...
IL Rancher if you will notice in my fiirst post I specified that this would be for the breeding barn. There is no perfect chute out there for everything that needs to be run through.
A chute that is made around an 1100lb steer will not work on 2000lb donor cows or even 1500-1700lb brood cows. The openings to give shots thru are packed with extra fat that has been bunched up and makes it hard to get a syringe to the correct place. One other thing that I forgot to mention...
First off, make sure that the dimensions are not centered around a 1100lb steer like the Silencers. One option that we must have on any chute that we buy is that BOTH sides will swing open. The control lever must be hinged where it will swing back and forth. If I was buying a new one today...
Inject 1/2 cc of lydocaine under the wart. Wait about 5 minutes then pinch the wart and pull away from the skin, take a razor and cut off BELOW skin level. Once the wart is off mix a little Cattan Rose dust with Vaseline to make a paste and cover the area with the paste. In two days you will...
We are a genetic supplier for an all natural program, I will not openly broadcast the specifics but if you want to pm me I will lay out all of the guidelines, and the premiums.
If you are looking for an SUV, the Cadillac Esclade and the Ford Expedition sets up high enough to leave the pavement. We have never hung them on anything. I believe that both vehicles have a skid plate just in case.
Those look good. According to the Pythagorean Theory they should be solid, I however have not had the nerve to try it out yet. Do you pound the post in, or just push them with the loader?
If you must go that route use 1/4cc of ace, and put it directly in the vein that runs down the inside of the tail. It will start to work in less than 5 minutes
ACS, Forget about any kind of new halter, and be careful not to let her fight it to much or she will rupture the blood vessels on the bridge of her nose, and then she will never respect a halter again. What we have found best on those kind is to turn them out in a grass paddock for two or...
I don't want to state the obvious, but I cant see how anybody gives a damn if you make an apology. You said your piece, and I assume that you are a big boy and spoke what you felt. That being said just shut up, drop it and move on.
We have been testing for three years, about 350 hd a year. Knock on wood we have never had one pop positive. It is a good idea to test everything, one bad apple in the bunch can ruin the whole thing.
When we buy pregnant recips, they come in all diffrent types of cows. Seems that the herfs can be just as cantankerous if not more than anything else. Had one last year that wouldn't let you within 80 yds of her calf for about 3 weeks. Can't get those calves weaned quick enough and the old...
We are located in southern Missouri. The average low in the winter is proably 20. No longer than it takes to shear one out it is a pretty beneficial thing for the animal, especially those spring calvers. With fescue being our main forage, we must do something to deal with the endophyte which...
From feeding programs to general apperance of the cow herd we strive to keep the whole herd looking "sale ready" for visitors that come tour the herd. However, the biggest reason to shear the herd in the spring is to help lower the temprature through the breeding season, and help those fall...
