    Post a Ranch Photo!

Looking forward to the frozen coyote poses, they were hilarious. Don't envy the weather that creates them.

What's the weather like at your place?

Dry down in the Nebraska panhandle, to go along with a lot of country. We have been lucky and only had a few small fires, dry land corn burns pretty black. Roads are powder, there are cows on corn stalks already. It better not catch up the moisture this winter, hay was pretty short.

    Brought my cows home early

I forgot to mention, twice, nice calves.

    Brought my cows home early

I have never thought face plant was a good idea, good way to run into something staring at a screen. A baler monitor is most of the screen I need, except for the one that has Ranchers.net on the other side. Maybe something old can be new again, I sure hope so. Thanks for posting H

    bring country together

If America gets brought together by their definition, it sure won't be America any longer. I don't get the lack of independence and personal responsibility for the greater good. Worst part is I've been providing food for those morons for half a century, now they are a bunch of the market.

    Brought my cows home early

They look to be very well mounted, Little H in particular. You know which horse is better. My money says it depends on the day.

How to not get the yearlings checked

That one is a John Deere 568, as are four others in the neighborhood. They range from 15000 bale count on up. I don't know if they are the best baler, but they are the one I know the best. I bought one last March, and after a little tuning I really like it. The 68,000 bale count unit I have...

How to not get the yearlings checked

It was a treat, but the end justified the means. Doesn't bale quite like new, but as close as one with 68,000 bales thru it can. This year's baler payment, and money well spent.

How to not get the yearlings checked

This computer spells way worse than I do, baling, dammit

How to not get the yearlings checked

Yearlings all gone as of last Friday, a crew preconditioned calves this morning , may have got them all done. IDK, as I was dissecting a baler pickup with a twisted off shaft, been broke a while but didn't find it until last Thursday. Irrigate, irrigate, and work on the new house. Pee-poor...

How to not get the yearlings checked

We are actually caught up on baling and one set of yearlings left this past week. Two more groups go this coming week, along with third cutting just starting and some oat straw to bale. Busy times, with no rain related time off. May be some of the best quality hay I have ever helped harvest...

How to not get the yearlings checked

Can you switch that pivot back and take a bad tie-rod end off that rake tractor? I didn't think that was the whole trouble, and, yep. Started out with 3 fresh rake wheels, and all the teeth we had. The rake is almost right, just needs a fresh tire. Tie rod end wound up switching an axle leg...

    PASTURE NAMES by Steve Moreland

I was just talking currently,I have ridden and fenced several of those SOB pastures. They are pretty common. Most of them had another name originally.

    PASTURE NAMES by Steve Moreland

Slim's north and south, Big Morava, the dam pasture, the bull pasture, Doogie's north and south, and Sand Canyon to name a few. I have almost always taken time to wonder about the old homesteads and stackyards you ride up on. Its work now, but I can't imagine how challenging it was then...

I’M GOING TO OPEN MY DOOR UP By Steve Moreland, May 9, 2020

I can't remember if we hauled more cows, water or hay that year. It was a bunch of all three. Rained once and made the smoke smell come back from the year before.

I’M GOING TO OPEN MY DOOR UP By Steve Moreland, May 9, 2020

Things are a tad noisy at road speed. Bet you saw some dry country on that trip.

    People on lockdown

A timely reminder George. My folks live in a senior living apartment in town here and things have quieted down for them. No church, Dr appointments, or weekday lunch downtown. I have tried to be a more frequent visitor and they have great neighbors who stay in touch but they have noticed the...

    Cat got your tongue?

Maybe everyone is catching up on their to-do lists. Mine involves a three year backlog of mechanic work, assisting with a remodeling project and moving my shop tools and equipment. Only issue here will be getting some fixtures for the house from a neighboring state, and baler pulled home from...

Rural America watches pandemic erupt in cities as fear grows

That's a good chunk of several years GDP, let alone tax revenues. Using new math to figure this out
