    Now offering...

I don't fault anyone for wanting to be comfortable while they work. I just found raking hay with an open station tractor peaceful. But it has been at least 12 years since I have raked hay so there is a good chance that I'd choose a cab over an open station these days. Now on to my...

    Now offering...

That's their problem GM88... they have all this fancy equipment, it has made them soft. About the only tractor work I actually enjoyed was raking hay and we used an open station 4020. I couldn't stand being cooped up inside a cab all day, so when the choice came to do tractor work or...

    Now offering...

I ain't buying at that price! Now... sweeten the pot a little with a 4020 pulling a hay rake and I might think about it. Have to even out my tan, my left arm is considerably darker than my right and some raking might just do the trick. Or I could just shoot down to the beach, work on my...

The highlights of the summer so far

Looks like it's been a fun filled summer! Has Wonder been behaving for the granddaughter? And how's the new pup coming along?

    Well guys

Looks like you have the labor, now you just need the ideas. The digger derrick should give you a good start (ours go 10 ft deep). From there you could add some drill pipe from the top of the auger to the auger shaft on the derrick. Slowly and carefully go as deep as you need, grout in some...

    July 4th- Happy Independence Day

Happy Independence Day to all on Ranchers. May all of you have a safe and happy holiday. I'd also like to ask that you keep our unsung heroes in your thoughts as well. From the firefighters that are doing what they do to try and save precious acres and memories, to the linemen (even the...

    June 27 and 28, 2012

I arrived in Merriman about an hour early and wanted to find the church so that I wasn't late. Not only did I pass the church 3 times, but I also passed as I later explained to LazyWP, "a goofy 3 wheeled thing". He told me that was Sparky's creation. No real point to the story, just thought it...

    Well guys

You have a better chance of getting pregnant with kittens! The more I think about that other well on the ranch, the more it amazes me. First, somebody had some large stones to go down and dig the well in sand that wants nothing more than to fill itself back in. Second, they either had...

    Well guys

Know someone with a large compressor? My parents' well was sucking air so my brother brought home a big compressor and with the help of the plumber who diagnosed the problem, sent few blasts of air down the casing, cleaning off the screen. It's been six months and so far so good.

    ranch for sale

Ah heck, LazyWP isn't that bad. Shoot, he bought not one but two, string trimmers for LWLeather to use. They're even on wheels! He even let me use one! Heck of a guy he is. :P

    Wet round bales

Thanks for the info! Maybe if this little trick was known/implemented around here, a few beautiful old dairy barns would still be standing.

    ranch for sale

If I only had a few million laying around... Hey H, if someone buys it for you to run, can I come work for you? :D Wouldn't need much in they way of pay. Having a place like that to play on would be payment enough!

    Wet round bales

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the purpose of the salt? To draw the moisture out? It's not a practice I've heard of in my tiny slice of the world.

Polaris Rangers are kind of handy little gadgets

Nice pictures Soap! When I was out there, I kept hinting to LazyWP that he needed one of those fancy 4 wheeled scooters... he didn't want to hear it. Seems he likes his hot rod and I can't say I blame him after I seen it put through it's paces.

    NJ... a land of contrast

It has stayed about the same. This piece of property is so "cheap" because it is deed restricted. Basically, the state has paid the owner for the development rights. This is the only way farmers can afford land around here, buy it for market value, and then get in on the preservation program...

    NJ... a land of contrast

Oh shucks, I forgot the critter picture! Critters As for the job...I'm still getting paid, but we are slooooow. We had some bad storms blow through Friday night and I thought that would make some work for us, but even that didn't do the trick. Makes for a real long day, especially when we...

    NJ... a land of contrast

I'm sure many of you have heard and seen all of the negatives that NJ has to offer, but today was such a gorgeous day, I decided to snap a few photos of the positives. And if the photo gallery stops giving me fits, I'll upload more as I take them. And sorry for the quality, they were taken with...
