A little reminder that this is still winter, sort of.

This has been the winter that wasn't, especially compared to last winter. The snow we have now that we got the beginning of the week is a god send, no real moisture here since last August, so we will take it in any form it comes. :) Had freezing rain the other day...

Phil, Annes significant other, putting the finishing touches on two new box stalls. Anne and I with the mare and stud colt that will be the first geusts. The mare didn't seem to mind. The foal did well for his first day being led, should make a good gelding. :)

    Gcreekrch, they are getting closer.

Wolf shot south west of Hanna. My 17 year old daughter swears she saw two wolves crossing the road just in front of her 2 miles west of our place just a few days before this wolf was shot. http://www.drumhelleronline.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2877&Itemid=66[/u]

An attraction or something to avoid?

The topic of ET calves came up in a bull buying discussion the other day and it got me wondering. How do bull buyers feel about bulls resulting from ET. Makes you consider them more or less? Or maybe it is irrelevant?

Is this the best we are capable of?

Regardless of right or wrong, justifiable calling out or unjust, these are the kind of antics being displayed in the Leachman topic that cast a bad light on Ranchers.net and on those who call themselves Ranchers by virtue of the name of this site. This is a public process. Are we that...

    A walk in the snow.

Winter grazing conditions since all the snow the last few weeks have made it, IMO, time to bring the girls home. Been feeding them where they were for the last 2 weeks but it is a lot of traveling with the tractor and bale processor. Cows waiting for the bale I had on, they didn't think there...

    Moved Cows Yesterday

Moved the mature cows to fresh pasture, 5 and 1/2 miles to the North. They are being supplemented a bit over 4 lbs a day of a 17% pellet (cake). I led them with the...

    A very nice visit.

Had the pleasure of a very nice visit today with Mr. and Mrs. Little Bow Rancher. We weaned 5 days ago and had our yearling replacement heifers with the calves to help settle them on the pasture. Mr. and Mrs. Little bow showed up just in time to help us sort the heifers off, as the calves have...
