‘Not The Campaign We Hope He’d Run’

Even the conservatives are saying the negative ads being run were not the campaign they were hoping McCain would run- but he can't win running on his policy... And David Brooks doesn't believe he can win that way either. :???:

People are super sensitive now days. I have not seen any negative ads that I though were over the top by either party.

I have seen Obama make negative comments in the form of racist comments in speeches.

To point out wrong policies or comments by your opponent are not dirty politics. Negative ads are not bad, dirty ads are bad. What dirty ad has McCain made?

You libs need to toughen up, and quit being wusses!

There hasn't been anything out of line that I've seen. Heck, the man is running for President of the United States, not class president at a junior high school. If he can't take a little criticism then he sure as heck can't handle the job he's seeking.

McCain has every right to point out the differences between himself and Obama, and he has every right to point out the differences between what Obama says and what his past actions have been. For instance, Obama claims he can reach out and work with the opposition to get things done. Problem is, he's never done that, so why should we believe he can, or is even inclined to? He has the most liberal voting record in the senate, and that's saying quite a bit these days. Someone who's voted that far left on every issue that's come before him isn't someone who's shown a willingness to compromise.

As for all the moaning about negative ads, just because Obama's supporters, including most of the media, cry foul, doesn't mean he's being unfairly treated. He's being treated no worse than any other presidential candidate in my lifetime, and a heckuva lot better than most.

Even I think they all are being a bunch of cry babies!!!

Yes, indeed. It happens every time. At the beginning, both campaigns talk about how they're going to take the high road, blah blah blah. Then one side or the other gets in a tizzy about some ad they consider negative and the mud slinging begins. You can bet both sides have some heavy artillery ready to be brought out at a moments notice. We ain't seen nothin' yet!

What makes this campaign different, whether people want to talk about it or not, is Obama's race. If the McCain campaign tip toes around and gives Obama a free pass on certain issues because they're afraid of being seen as racist, then McCain is in trouble. If the Obama campaign cries "racism" every time their candidate is criticized, well, I don't think that will sit well with the majority of Americans, at least the ones that aren't already in Obama's camp. Should be interesting.
