Today was a 100% Day....

First, did the Richland Washington Farmers Market. The weather was blustery and generally horrible....

The Benton Franklin County Health Insector did our Annual Inspection while there.. She scored us 100%! She said the reason for the 100% was not only having everything in order, but it seems it was important how I openly shared a lot of information on how we handled stuff....

Then, I get home and get the paperwork on a handfull of calves I sorted for Tyson..... 100% Choice!

Yes, in spite of the weather, it was a 100% day,

Congratulations, PPRM, not only for having a "100% day," but also for the fact that you realize how blessed you are by savoring the moment. Enjoy it.

My day yesterday was more of a "99% day." The weather was beautiful, the grass is growing, and I spent half the day horseback. That was all quite enjoyable. But in the afternoon, while at a meeting in Valentine, I received a phone call from home. The report was that one lonely rain cloud came along with one lonely bolt of lightning, and it killed four yearling heifers and one bull who were near a water tank. Since the well is powered by electricity, it is still a bit unsure if the cattle were killed by lightning or by an electrical shock. Saddletramp moved the other 126 heifers and five remaining bulls to a new pasture until we can completely solve the mystery. I have even tried to Google the past 24 hours in lightning strikes, but can't seem to get more than two hours worth of information.

I had a nice supper on the way home at the Husker Hub, and enjoyed visiting with several friends. Everyone is upbeat about the recent rains. I drowned my sorrows with a couple large glasses of iced tea, and came home to a loving wife and fine son. Despite the loss of about five thousand dollars worth of livestock, it was still a 99 percent great day. :)
