13 Dems Vote With GOP To Defund Obama 'Czars'

Thirteen Democrats bolstered the GOP's frame that several of President Obama's unconfirmed advisers are "czars" by voting for an amendment to the House spending bill that would defund their offices.

They are Reps. Dan Boren (D-OK), Ben Chandler (D-KY), Jerry Costello (D-IL), Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Pete DeFazio (D-OR), Gene Green (D-TX), Larry Kissell (D-NC), Jim Matheson (D-UT), Mike McIntyre (D-NC), Ed Pastor (D-AZ), Nick Rahall (D-WV), Mike Ross (D-AR), and Heath Shuler (D-NC).

The amendment was sponsored by Rep. Steve Scalise (R-IL), who listed the advisers in question as the "ObamaCare" czar, the climate change czar, the global warming czar, the green jobs czar, the car czar, the Guantanamo czar, the pay czar, and the fairness czar. It's unclear if all these people exist, though Republicans and conservatives have complained about various unconfirmed Obama advisers for years, including Van Jones, who was driven out of the administration, and Carol Browner, who will be leaving the administration in the coming days.

One Republican, freshman Reid Ribble (R-WI), voted not to eliminate these positions.

President Obama has already vowed to veto the House spending bill, so a lot of these amendments will be stripped out of whatever legislation Congress ultimately adopted. After the vote on Thursday, Scalise said Obama's veto threat was tantamount to "threatening to shut down the government."

Did you hear Reid today saying it was Boehner's inability to control his causus that was going to shut down the government over the budget.

This guy is still in total denial about what message the voters sent his party about their big government spending. He just doesn't get it and neither does Obama if he is threating to shut down the government over his czars.

Boehner's inability to control his caucus

correct me if I am wrong but isn't this how it is suppose to work. "".the representatives of the states voting independently, and representing their states needs"".

of is it once they are elected they report to the party boss and get in lockstep with them.. :???:

The Republicans were voted for in Nov. to cut the big government spending and it looks to me like Boehner is controling his caucus to do just that. The problem is Reid can't understand the Democrat spending has got to stop if the US is going to survive.

"Reid can't understand "

How true that is of almost everything. What's he still doing there?
The people of Nevada really screwed up not getting rid of him. I heard
it was the casinos that voted for him as he had brought home the
'bacon' for them many times.
