The 18th annual Sandhills Cattle Association ranch tour was today. The weather cooperated wonderfully, with temperatures in the mid-forties. It was a very enjoyable day, and we got to see lots of top quality cattle on beautiful ranches deep in the heart of the Sandhills

Touring through the Kime ranch, farther away from any towns than any other ranch in Nebraska. It is 45 miles from Nenzel and 45 miles from Whitman, and are they really towns? :???:  :)

It is held in June, at a different ranch each year. I've only been to one of those events, and that was in 2001 when it was at the Thacher Cattle Company east of Valentine. It was a fun time, and the proceeds go to the American Heart Association.

Thanks for the pictures. I found the grass fat steers interesting. They are well conditioned for grass cattle (or they are to me). Do you know their age?

I think they were all born after the first of May in 2006, so will be right at two years of age when they are harvested in May or June of 2008.

Thanks for the pictures! Kimes were the next place south of where I worked for a short time. Had a good friend that worked for Jerry Adamson, and spent lots of time running coyotes there. Was a trip back in time and I had fun! :D :D :D John Ravenscroft isn't a kid anymore, but maybe I ain't either. We went to church at Ravenscrofts. It was held in their home.

Nenzle and Whitman I don't even think count as towns. :( Aren't they both unincorporated? Whitman saw a very agriculture helping business shut the doors this fall. Plus the school went to. :( It's seems that more of the small towns are having this happen. If it wasn't for the post office and some of the older people it seems these small Nebraska towns would just die.

Thanks for showing the lowlines. I'm gonna have to have Grandma come over and look. She wanted me to get pictures of them in Denver and they left the day before we got there. I won't be surprised if we don't have a few soon.

How little are y'all trying to make them CRM? Got a target in mind?

Thanks once again Mr. Sopeweed for the tour. A lot to be learned from seeing how others do things. I tink I need to find some of this type of tour in my area.

I will say at first glance I liked them lowline bulls, look like a nice uniform group. Hard to tell they were miniatures at first.
