PETA requests criminal charges against Smithfield by Pete Hisey on
Friday, June 23, 2006

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has asked a Virginia
Commonwealth's Attorney to file criminal charges against pork processor
Smithfield Foods for its treatment of pigs involved in traffic
accidents. PETA charges that Smithfield mistreated the pigs after a
truck overturned in May, injuring many of the animals in its cargo.

PETA claims that Smithfield should treat the injured animals rather than
euthanize them at the scene, and that if it must euthanize them, it
should use a lethal injection rather than a captive bolt gun. The pork
processor is required by law to provide emergency care to injured
animals, PETA claims.

The animal-rights organization filed a similar complaint in another part
of Virginia in October. No action has been taken yet on that complaint.

Well if a carload of PETA members hit a hog truck I know who I'd be giving mouth to mouth too after the accident.

And just how would you tell them apart??????????

What next? lethal injections at the abbattoir instead of captive bolt or electric stunning.
We had to start using CO2 gas to euthanise piglets about a year ago, as the use of blunt force trauma was considered cruel, in almost 40 years I have never had a piglet suffer, several have come round after gassing for the recomended timeso now we have doubled the time.
How long before I have to stop using the rifle on the cattle?

I use Eather (sp) to cull puppies but my Drugest is retiring - He is a long time friend and knows I don't use it to make "drugs" - he's trying to get another Drugest to supply me!
