Personally, I would give this one to Obama.........!

Thats what all the news sites and quickpolls are saying too....Some even say he won with the older voters (worried about retirements :???: )...Way ahead with women...McCain a few points ahead with men...

We know tho that there is going to be ads in the paper saying McCain won the debate- because The Wallstreet Journal screwed up and printed them this morning instead of waiting until tomorrow

Another Dewey over Truman OT?
Personally it drove me nuts hearing OB keep saying when he is President. Didn't know the election was already over.

Didn't know if I was sick to my stomach from listening to them or lunch this afternoon. Bleah. :p

I don't listen to the polls, they never ask the right question. It is really funny hearing them say, "We polled 2000 people and they support so and so." There are over 300 million people in this country, so it doesn't make sense.

I thought it was technically a wash but since McCain is suppose to be the better of the two at debates I could see Obama claiming it as a victory.

I think they both basically won over their base but did not win any undecideds. I agreed with more of what McCain said but I am bias so he should win me.

I think there was no gotcha moment, and Obama did not stumble around like I suspected he would. But at times did seem like he was reading a speech instead of talking from knowledge.

I call it a tie, with the tie breaker going to Obama because McCain should have mopped him up!

Fox news asked people to vote on who they thought won the debate.

Last I looked the voting went like this:

McCain 82%
Obama 16%
Undecided 1%

Now, now, now.....be patient!

It's gonna take Old Whiner a bit to eat his oatmeal, take his Lipitor, lisinopril, cozar, etc., and check ALL the reputable sources such as Huffington Post so he can spend the next 15 hours changing dirty di-dees and cutting and pasting a couple hundred posts here to enlighten us and inform us as to why Oblahblah and socialism is the answer!

Nine times Obama had to say that McCain was right! Broadcasters acknowledged that several times in debates with Hilary and other Dem nominees in their debates he had to say they were right. Guess we know who's right!

I didn't get to watch much because when it first came on, the first thing that jumped out at me was the color of Obama's lips.

They were a purplish/lavender color? :???:

Because I have fiber optic-digital video/audio connections and an HD format, I thought my 56" screen TV was screwed up.

I spent the next 2 hours fiddling with color adjustments........ but in the end, I went back to the default setting and realized they really were that color.

After all, I have much more important things to watch today and tonite and wanted the color to be perfect.

That was my take on it, too. Pretty much a toss-up. Neither side could call it a definitive win, in my opinion.

The thing that really struck me was the age issue. Only a moron could have watched McCain's performance last night and still think he's too old to be President.

Stephanopolous or however you spell it was Clinton's press boy. One media branch used him to score the debate. How do you think he scored it? He's a democrat for Pete's sake.

What does it matter anyway? Obama changed his commie stance quite a bit but he still won't get my vote no matter what.

If there are really all of these "undecided" people out there, I don't think the debate made much difference in how they feel.

Neither addressed the consumers who owe $400K on a house now worth $150 to $200K. These folks are defaulting out of convenience and it has nothing to do with income or job losses. Some have already bought another home. I don't think income taxes ought to pay for their blunder.

So do most people:

CBS Insta Poll shows Barack Obama won 39% to John McCain's 25% with 36% saying the debate was a draw.

Insider Advantage reports those polled Obama won 42% to McCain's 41% with Undecided 17%

CNN reports voter opinions that Obama "did better" 51%, McCain "did better" 38%

The CNN poll showed men were evenly split, but women gave Obama higher marks 59% to 41% for McCain.

http://voices.kansascity.com/node/2208

And Ben Smith at Politico says:

The mild consensus in the press file was that McCain won, if not in particularly dramatic fashion. The two insta-polls out -- from CBS and CNN -- found the opposite: That Obama won by a wide margin. CBS had it 39% to 25% for Obama, CNN 51% to 38%.

Maybe the difference was expectations. People covering the campaigns think of Obama as a much-improved debate, and McCain as at times a weak one. McCain, by that standard, overperformed. But people tuning into the race now now think of McCain as an experienced hand, and Obama as a newcomer. Obama more than held his own, and McCain failed to expose him -- as he tried -- as out of his depth.

UPDATE: It is worth noting, as CNN does, that there's a big Democratic voter ID edge in its poll.

Why more Democratics in the poll? There are more registered Dems than Republican and the spread is getting bigger every month.

And this was supposed to be McCains strong point: foreign policy. Obama held his own; stood up on stage and didn't have horns, smiled, talked like a regular American. Whether he won or lost, this was a good debate performance for him.

I have seen his conversion to centrist.. seems odd.. but at least McCain was able to show that Obama changed his earmark lust once he started running for President,

the only thing McCain could have done to win the debate was distance himself from Bush, and the BAILOUT.. And paint Obama/Bush and the dems as on the side of big business..

on the one issue he could have sided with conservatives,... McCain didn't step away from the liberals enough, and wasn't a true maverick..., so I would say McCain better pray that Palin is a super celebrity at the vp debates..

His campaign said he'd take a nap before the debate! and it was only 90 minutes! Yeah, I still think he's too old to be president.

He's not on the campaign trail today cause he's " tired" and is resting up.

You two are kinda funny. Maybe one of these days Old John McCain will even get so exhausted that he'll have to take a week off in Hawaii during the middle of a campaign - just like your boy Obama did.
