We have had several nights of -15F overnight lows and the coldest so far this year was -27F with 25 MPH winds. I don't know what -27F is in cellulous but it is cold in my opinion!
I guess this is payback as we have had 3 really nice winters in a row.
I went to feed this morning and it was +28F but the sleet was blowing sideways with 35 MPH sustained winds from the south east. I'm here to tell you that +28 might not sound bad but the driving sleet will cut you like a knife!
I planned this homestead with the normal winds in mind - - - I am blocked on the north and west so the winds don't normally bother me to much but we have no protection at all from the south east - - - the cattle are staying in the loafing shed - - - it is open to the south but closed on the other three sides so no wind blowing thru.
Geez, we are roasting in comparison. Hit 60F here today but gonna be in the teens tonight. We have received enough moisture to
bring us from 69% to 84% of normal in the last 2 weeks. Goofy weather for February for sure.
It stayed at +34F overnight and is up to +36F now - - - very treacherous for man or beast on foot or tires as water running over ice is a real experience!
The weatherman is talking about +58F Thursday then highs in the +20sF all next week and lows above 0F and a possible blizzard coming in. The only good part of that is we are far enough into the year is we get a bad storm it should not last long. I'm hoping the next 4 days clears a lot of what is here before the next round.
