Good points on both sides. I hope they really check Jefferson out and if he was doing wrong doing, gets his due. My guess is that it was just a poor way of doing what they all do--or a lot of them do.

The dems did take him off important committees. The republicans rallied behind Delay. Delay got taken out by the voters, not the republicans. It is yet to be seen if the reverse is true about Jefferson.

actually:
but Republican Conference rules nonetheless forced DeLay to resign temporarily from his position as Majority Leader. In January 2006, under pressure from fellow Republicans, DeLay announced that he would not seek to return to the position.

I was confused with the meaning of rallied behind...is that the same as "Forced" to resign?.....and "Under pressure" from fellow republicans?

seemed to me that he was forced to resign and under pressure from fellow republicans his bid to resume that post was abandoned....does not sound like they rallied behind him.....Maybe ysome one should e-mail wikipedia and correct thier page on Delay.....

as for his election bid....and facing the voters....he never did....he resigned first..

and for dis the unbiased link

as for Jefferson:

On 30 July 2005, Jefferson was videotaped by the FBI allegedly receiving $100,000 worth of 100 dollar bills[/] in a leather briefcase at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Arlington, Virginia.....FBI agents raided Jefferson's home in Northeast Washington and, as noted in an 83-page affidavit filed to support a subsequent raid on his Congressional office, "found $90,000 of the cash in the freezer, in $10,000 increments wrapped in aluminum foil and stuffed inside frozen-food containers." Serial numbers found on the currency in the freezer matched serial numbers of funds given by the FBI[/b] to their informant.,... Another $4,900 was given back to the FBI by one of Jefferson's attorneys.
