Poll: McCain-Hillary Would Be 2008 Nail-Biter

If Hillary Clinton squares off against John McCain for president in 2008, the race could very well come down to the wire, a new poll reveals.

In the latest FOX News national poll of registered voters, Republican Sen. McCain beats Democratic Sen. Clinton by a margin of 4 percentage points - 46 percent to 42 percent, with the rest unsure.

Given the poll's 3-point margin of error, that means the race could go either way.

I used to like McCain at one time.....yes I know he's a Rep.....but the he started talking out of both sides of his mouth.

Example....last election he slammed Jerry Falwell ( whom I DISLIKE with a passion but I digress!)...then this year he turns around and accepts $$$$$ when asked to speak @ commencement. Now talk about a flip-flopper!!!

Falwell was trying and did buy him and he didn't even see it. You all may think I have a warped sense of politics BUT if I don't like something or someone....I'm not one to back down from my convictions as to why I don't like them/that . McCain did back down...he whimped out.

STOP THE PRESS! I think kola and I just agreed on a political issue!

I too think that McCain talks out of both sides of his mouth. True he's a Republican but not a good one in my book.

BBJ....we gotta stop this, they're gonna start whisperin' about us!!!!

I'm not always a pure blooded Demo supporter...never said I was but my biggest gripe with ANY politician, or just regular person for that fact, is double talk and acting all gooshy and lovey-dovy when someone waves a ck/favor in their face. Have a back bone man and stand up for whatever you say or believe...that's my theory :!: :!:

In fact our Gov in Ga is Rep....the first one since Reconstruction...and THAT IS a big deal in this part of the country.

He's been a good Gov and he's up for re-election and I'll vote for him....he's done a good job and accomplished most of what he stated he would in his platform. He's got a backbone!!! :) :)

I have a friend in upstate New York who is a fairly conservative Catholic and he says he thinks Hillary has done good things for his state. He didn't vote for her the first time around, but is apparently considering it this time.

So far as McCain... Yeah, he really lost some support after this year's grad speech.

Reader2 I'm not goading anyone on purpose.....I DO like her.

I don't know her personally so I can't say if she's cold or not...heck we all are guilty of that @ one time or another as that all depends on the situation we find ourselves in at that time!

And she seems to be person who has a backbone.....she sticks with her ideas and works hard to share with others. Sometimes they don't want to hear...but thats politics!!

Bill did too....wonder if Hillary will ask Monica to intern????

Monica is not a very attractive gal, but if I woke up to Hillary every morning.....yes I think Monica would be a bit more appealing

this is all in vain, Hillary ain't gonna win. we need a woman President like we need another Dis on this web board.

elect a woman and this country is in real trouble. Call me a male schauvanist, but I am a firm believer in a womans place, it is at her husbands side, not out trying to be the led pony.

Hillary needs to be put back in her place!

Not that I really agree with Jigs reasoning, but I've worked for two women bosses, and they let power go straight to their heads, don't think its a good idea for one to run a country, now I'm going to be in trouble :(

One of the most powerful and influential (not to mention, respected) rulers in history was a personal hero of mine, Queen Elizabeth the first. (Who happened to be a woman, btw)

The HBO miniseries on her is really good (Helen Mirren is great as E I).

I agree! I've seen it twice. 8)

(well, okay. I've only seen the second half twice... )

a woman leader has a chip on her shoulder to "be as good as a man" woman was made to compliment man, to complete man. Woman was not created to be better than man. education has deteriorated this fact, and will be the demise of civilization......

why is it so hard to see that everything has a place, and a natural order....and the female role is a secondary role!

using the queen of England as an example is funny to me, because I think the whole british royalty thing is as big a joke as they come....

Of course she did. Mary, Queen of Scots was planning treason and assasination of the ruling queen!

jigs, aparently you're not only sexist, but you don't know your history, either.

because of the " we can do anything a man can do" additude. these feminists have created a problem, and I am seeing it as a big problem.

I am raising my daughters to think, be independant, let nothing stop them, and above all, know that the entire purpose of their being is to find that ONE man, love him till death, NEVER divorce, and honor that man till death by completing him, and not competing with him to "lead" the family.

I believe that is what God intended in a man and a woman

Are you speaking from experience? My husband and I had complementary roles in our relationship, household, and child raising. Most people who are able to stay married do settle into complementing each other and honoring each other. It sounds like you're bitter about something or someone.

I think you'd do better to teach your girls to respect and love and appreciate their husbands, just as they should respect and treat with honor most people, but certainly their soulmate. I just came back from a wedding and the thing I wrote to the bride at the shower was to appreciate what a gift it is to have love and not forget that and to never use angry words because they linger in your spouse's mind and slowly poison a marriage. My personal view is that you have focused on the wrong lesson in emphasizing that a woman should be secondary instead of emphasizing the gift of love and the importance of respecting and treating your spouse with appreciation and love.

to respect and love and appreciate their husbands .....exactly, by keeping in thier place they do this.

it is not a secondary position, a man and woman make one unit, yet only one can lead. the man leads. my wife has all kinds of input, she even calls the shots once in a while, yet she never over steps my decisions..... because I am the man.

it is not a dictatorship, but a view of mutual respect. the man must respect the individualness of the woman, and she devotes to completing the man. simple concept.

in the old days women were raised to be wives. now they are raised to be men.

Read "Proper Care and Feeding Of Husbands" by Dr. Laura Schlessinger, it explains what Jigs is talking about. I don't think there is a place for a female to be running our country. Women libbers have demoralized the sanctity of the family. Sooooooooooooooooo, come and get me :p :p :p
