We have had a bad fence crawler and when we were sorting off to ship last fall the kids thought we'd got her.I thought it was a different cow but they won. She was a strange witch she'd only fence out of our farthest west pasture and only this time of year. Well this week I found out we missed her every day she was getting out in the neighbors to eat weeds of all things. Well tonight I drove around the backside to check and sure enough-I put her back in and she went a half mile and jumped back out right in front of me.I got a mad on and chased her home two miles on foot in my rubber boots on the high trot. The first half mile of swamp was more fun than I can stand. I've got her locked up in the bucking pens and she's only leaving on the back of the truck. No she's not an EXT I'd never of been able to keep up to her if she was lol.

I got rid of a problem cow this year - - - I've been trying to sell her for two years but every time a truck and trailer showed up she would tear out ( last year it took her 5 tries but she when thru a fence made out of guard rail).

This year I parked the trailer next to my best holding pen and put her and 5 other buddies I wanted to ship in the pen - - - had a round bale in the pen and put mineral and square bales in the trailer - - -took 2 days before any of the square bales were eaten but by day 7 when the sale was I got them all in.

Backed up the truck and you should have seen her at the sale barn. She never got out but it wasn't for a lack of trying.

She's gone from my life forever-we shipped her at the local auctionmart yesterday. The new owners are doing a good job lots of cattle and buyers rolling through. They had 1800 mostly yearlings in yesterday-it's nice to get a viable yards here again.

NR........Whose running the sale yard now?? It does make a big difference when you have good people running the business; increased volumes will bring out the buyers!

Brent and Brad Brookes have leased it from the Ag. Society with a buyout option after 5 years. Our Hereford buddies to the west of me sold 250 yearlings there that I bet rung the bell. I haven't talked to them yet to see what they brought.

NR...........Those boys should do a good job.............they were raised in some pretty good country  . The Diamond J's always have a good sale on those yearlings.......some complain that Herfs and baldies don't have performance...........there's not many that can match the sale weights on these cattle!
