Even though the "magic" number of 60 doesn't mean a lot in the Senate, Dems are edging even closer today.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Sen. Ted Stevens, the longest serving Republican in Senate history, narrowly lost his re-election bid Tuesday, marking the downfall of a Washington political power and Alaska icon who couldn't survive a conviction on federal corruption charges. His defeat by Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich moves Senate Democrats within two seats of a filibuster-proof 60-vote majority.

fff....if I were a dem I'd probably hope we didn't get the 60. That will give them the house, senate and the presidency. No way they can avoid blame for anything from then on.

Sixty doesn't really make that much difference. There are several Republican Senators coming up for election in two years that will be strongly challenged. If they can be painted as obstructionist, they know they could be in trouble. And it's doubtful that you'll get 60 Dems to agree on everything anyway.

Yes, I'm sure as soon as Obama is sworn in, this board will be full of Bush supporters screaming for him to fix everything. But that's ok; I still think we'll be better off with the Dem majority....at least for a few years. After the economy is on an even keel, it may be time to give moderate Republicans a chance again.

Only time will tell. But hey..nobody is screaming...HE said he'd fix it. I'm willing to give him a chance...even if it takes the whole term.

Those R Senators coming up for election in two years just might need to consider that the conservative R's are tired of their guys running as R's, then voting as RINO's. There could be a real move to elect true conservatives after a couple of years of Obamania!

Thing is we are willing to show exactly why to blame Clinton! Example the repeal of the Glass-Steagall act. The signing off on the merger of Exxon-Mobil.

Liberals like to be vague, they blame bush for Big Oil but never look at who allowed the mergers into big oil. The blame bush for banking failure but never look at who signed banking bill?

They blame bush for home losses, but never look at who pushed for more home ownership even if you did not qualify.

Conservatives look at specifics, liberals are always vague in their pointing the finger!
