yesterday our oldest had the 8th grade promotion ceremony at the Jr. High..... 24 kids in the class, and they are all pretty good kids. two awards were given to the top male and top female of the class, based on leadership, honor, morals, respect, and kindness. it is the citizenship award. other than class valedictorian, it is the most wanted award. well our girl got it!!!! she must get all those qualities from her momma! was a great day, enjoyed it very much. thought I would share a few pics from the day......

Well congratulations to your daughter who must be a hard worker!
And as IL Rancher says, you should be smiling with all those beautiful women in your life, maybe practise some in front of the mirror before her next graduation rolls around?

Congrats! Around here they usually pass out Eagle Feathers to all the High School kids that graduate that are "Indian". I wonder what would happen if someone followed that act by passing out $100 bills to the rest of the graduates just for being "white"?

3 years ago when my son was in 8th grade they got a new principal and she decided to do away with the 8th grade graduation. Her reasoning was that the 8th grade graduation was started because use to youths would quit school after 8th grade to work on farms, and that was a thing of the past, so no reason to have it anymore.

Funny how one woman can gain some power and then wipe out decades of tradition over her own opinion. Son was mad he was looking forward to them graduation presents

Her actual reasoning is correct that is when a lot of kids did quit school' way back when"....but have the ceremony anyway...just because!!!!!!

That was what most parents thought, but she won.

I am of the mind set where it is a farce to have a big deal about it. a nice small ceremony, and then have some family around is plenty. but some of these kids went ALL OUT. really went overboard! and it is driven by the parents...... but we are a consolidated school system, and the high school is in a different town than the aso this is the way we keep a graduation in our town, and nothing short of the end of the Earth will change that! believe me, I have tried!
