A Declaration- **Please attend the NYC General Assembly on October 15, 2012 to vote on the plan of action to elect NATIONAL delegates!

WHEREAS THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION PROVIDES:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

WE, THE NINETY-NINE PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in order to form a more perfect Union, by, for and of the PEOPLE, shall elect and convene a NATIONAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY to meet beginning on July 4, 2012 in the City Of Philadelphia.

Election of Delegates:

Between now and May 4, 2012, the People, consisting of all American citizens who have reached the age of 18, regardless of party affiliation and voter registration status, shall elect Two Delegates, one male and one female, by direct vote, from each of the existing 435 Congressional Districts to represent the People at the NATIONAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY in Philadelphia convening on July 4, 2012. The office of Delegate shall be open to all American citizens who have reached the age of 18.

Meeting of the Congress and Deliberation:

At the NATIONAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY, the 870 Delegates shall set forth and vote upon a broad PLATFORM and PETITION OF GRIEVANCES to be submitted to all members of Congress, The Supreme Court and President and each of the political candidates running in the nationwide Congressional and Presidential election in November 2012.

This PLATFORM and PETITION OF GRIEVANCES shall be non-partisan and address the critical issues now confronting the United States People and will be voted upon by the 870 Delegates in consultation with the 99%. The PLATFORM and PETITION OF GRIEVANCES voted upon by the Delegates MAY or MAY NOT include the following:

1. Implementing an immediate ban on all private contributions of money and gifts to all politicians in federal office from Corporations, Political Action Committees, Super Political Action Committees, Lobbyists, Unions and other private sources of money to be replaced by the fair and equal public financing of all political campaigns. It has become clear that politicians in the United States cannot regulate themselves and have become the exclusive representatives of corporations and the very wealthy who spend vast sums of money on their campaigns and ensure their reelection.

2. The immediate reversal of the "Citizens United" case by the Supreme Court which equates the payment of money by corporations to politicians with free speech.

3. Prohibiting all public officials, whether elected or appointed from EVER being employed by any corporation they regulate while in office.

4. A complete lifetime ban on accepting all gifts, services, money, directly or indirectly, to any elected or appointed officials from any person, corporation, union or other entity that the public official was charged to regulate while in office.

5. A complete reformation of the United States Tax Code to require all citizens to pay a fair share of a progressive, graduated income tax by eliminating loopholes, unfair tax breaks, exemptions and deductions, subsidies (e.g. oil, gas and farm) and ending all other methods of evading taxes.

6. Medicare for all American citizens adjusted by a means test (i.e. citizens who can afford it will opt-out of Medicare and pay their own health insurance or opt-in and pay a means tested Medicare premium). The Medicaid program, fraught with corruption and fraud, will be eliminated except for the purpose of providing emergency room care to indigent non-citizens who will not be covered by Medicare-for-all.

7. Passage of a balanced budget amendment to the United States Constitution even if it requires a federal consumption tax, extension of the social security retirement age and/or reduction in social security benefits to individuals who can afford a reduction based upon means testing.

8. Adoption of an immediate plan to reduce the national debt to a sustainable percentage of GDP by 2020.

9. Term Limits.

10. Passage of an amendment to the United States Constitution authorizing a line item veto for the President of the United States.

11. Immediate passage of the Dream Act and comprehensive immigration and border security reform including offering visas, lawful permanent resident status and citizenship to the world's brightest people to come and work in our industries and schools.

12. Recalling all military personnel at all non-essential bases created at the end of World War Two and during the Cold War and refocusing national defense goals to address threats posed by the geopolitics of the 21st century, terrorism and limiting the large scale deployment of military forces to instances where Congressional approval has been granted to counter the Military Industrial Complex's goal of perpetual war for profit.

13. Mandating new educational goals to train the American public to perform jobs in a 21st Century economy, taking into consideration the redundancy caused by technology and the inexpensive cost of labor in China, India and other countries and paying our teachers a salary that is competitive with the private sector.

14. Subject to elimination of corporate tax loopholes stated above, offering tax incentives to businesses to reconstruct the manufacturing capacity of the United States and reinstitution of the Works Progress Administration and Civilian Conservation Corps and other emergency governmental agencies required to create new public works projects to provide jobs to the 46 million people living in poverty, the 9.1% unemployed and 10% underemployed.

15. Implementing immediate legislation to encourage China and our other trading partners to end currency manipulation or impose a consumption tax on goods that those countries export to the United States calculated by comparing the fair market value of the currency to the manipulated valuation.

16. Immediate reenactment of the Glass-Steagall Act and increased regulation of Wall Street by the SEC, FINRA and NASD, and the commencement of a Justice Department criminal investigations into the Securities and Banking industries pertaining to the collapse of markets and financial firm failures in 2007-2008.

17. Instead of continuing to lower interest rates for loans to banks who are refusing to loan to small businesses and consumers, have the Federal Reserve buy up all underwater or foreclosed mortgages and refinance the debt at 1% interest or less to be managed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac since that is the interest rate the Federal Reserve currently loans to the banks who only hoard the cash rather than loan it.

18. An immediate one year freeze on all foreclosures to be reviewed by a special task force appointed by Congress and the Executive Branch to determine, on a case by case basis, whether foreclosure proceedings should continue based on the circumstances of each homeowner.

19. Campaign finance reform banning all private money in politics and requiring free air time and public campaign finances to all candidates who obtain sufficient petition signatures and/or votes to participate in the primaries and/or electoral process, shortening the campaign season and allow voting on weekends. Voting must be accessible to all citizens.

20. An immediate withdrawal of all troops from Iraq and Afghanistan and a substantial increase in the amount of funding needed for veteran job placement and the treatment of the physical and emotional injuries sustained by veterans in these wars. Our veterans are committing suicide at an unprecedented rate and we must help now.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVLED that IF the PLATFORM and PETITION OF GRIEVANCES approved by the 870 Delegates of the NATIONAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY in consultation with the PEOPLE, are not acted upon and implemented to the satisfaction of the Delegates of the NATIONAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY within ONE YEAR of presentment of the PLATFORM and PETITION OF GRIEVANCES, said Delegates shall demand the immediate RESIGNATION of ALL 435 members of the United States House of Representatives, ALL 100 members of the United States Senate, ALL 9 members of the United States Supreme Court and the President of the United States.

The NATIONAL ASSEMBLY will then demand new elections to be held within 99 days of the resignation demand.

Upon implementation and satisfactory enactment of the NATIONAL ASSEMBLY'S PLATFORM and PETITION FOR THE REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES, said body shall DISSOLVE.

★THE NINETY-NINE PERCENT★

Edited to add:
further research has shown this is basically copied from a policy statement from Robert Reich
The draft list overlaps a proposal by Robert Reich to support public works programs, tax increases, debt forgiveness, and ways to get money out of politics

here is the so called New York general assembly document..

if I read it right these nuts think they will overturn the US constitution and replace it with their own amended constitution..

Declaration of the Occupation of New York City

This document was accepted by the NYC General Assembly on September 29, 2011:

As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies.

As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality: that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known.

They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.

They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give Executives exorbitant bonuses.

They have perpetuated inequality and discrimination in the workplace based on age, the color of one's skin, sex, gender identity and sexual orientation.

They have poisoned the food supply through negligence, and undermined the farming system through monopolization.

They have profited off of the torture, confinement, and cruel treatment of countless animals, and actively hide these practices.

They have continuously sought to strip employees of the right to negotiate for better pay and safer working conditions.

They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right.

They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers' healthcare and pay.

They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people, with none of the culpability or responsibility.

They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams that look for ways to get them out of contracts in regards to health insurance.

They have sold our privacy as a commodity.

They have used the military and police force to prevent freedom of the press. They have deliberately declined to recall faulty products endangering lives in pursuit of profit.

They determine economic policy, despite the catastrophic failures their policies have produced and continue to produce.

They have donated large sums of money to politicians, who are responsible for regulating them.

They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil.

They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people's lives or provide relief in order to protect investments that have already turned a substantial profit.

They have purposely covered up oil spills, accidents, faulty bookkeeping, and inactive ingredients in pursuit of profit.

They purposefully keep people misinformed and fearful through their control of the media.

They have accepted private contracts to murder prisoners even when presented with serious doubts about their guilt.

They have perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad. They have participated in the torture and murder of innocent civilians overseas.

They continue to create weapons of mass destruction in order to receive government contracts. *

To the people of the world,

We, the New York City General Assembly occupying Wall Street in Liberty Square, urge you to assert your power.

Exercise your right to peaceably assemble; occupy public space; create a process to address the problems we face, and generate solutions accessible to everyone.

To all communities that take action and form groups in the spirit of direct democracy, we offer support, documentation, and all of the resources at our disposal.

Join us and make your voices heard!

*These grievances are not all-inclusive.

and they have even renamed the park as liberty plaza..

if you are willing to sift through a bunch of whiney crap ... you could find out alot about the "occupiers"

The Liberty Square Blueprint is a collection of loosely defined goals authored by about 250 Occupy Wall Street protesters. It was started around October 4, 2011 and is a wiki style document. As of October 18, 2011, the Blueprint had 11 core visions including:

embracing open-source technology,
ending all wars,
eliminating "discrimination and prejudice," and
reappropriating "our business structures and culture, putting people and our Earth before profit.

It also has specific goals for New York City.

Supporters of the Liberty Square Blueprint see it as an alternative to the 99 Percent Declaration which they regard as too specific and short term

and then we all sing Kumbaya and hug..

something sinister is happening behind the scenes at the OWS protests..
if they pull it off we as a nation may be changed forever..

Try not to be fooled by the local and individual lists,..., the focus so far has been on the lists that make them all look like nuts.. when I found the 99% declaration.. I soon realized this could get serious.. they progressive/liberal elite have a gang of useful idiots distracting US while they plan to open the Constitutional convention right under our noses..

Purpose

Clearly, the framers of the Constitution wanted a means of sometimes bypassing the state legislatures in the ratification process. To some extent, the convention method of ratification loosely approximates a one-state, one-vote national referendum on a specific proposed constitutional amendment, thus allowing the sentiments of registered voters to be heard on highly sensitive issues.

Permissible scope of proposed Constitutional amendments

Because no Article V convention has ever been convened, there are various questions about how such a convention would function in practice. One major question is whether the scope of the convention's subject matter could be limited.[6]

The consensus is that Congress probably does not have the power to limit a convention to a single amendment or a single subject, because the language of Article V leaves no discretion to Congress, merely stating that Congress "shall" call a convention when the proper number of state applications have been received.

Comments made at the time the Constitution was adopted indicate that it was understood when the Constitution was drafted that Congress would have no discretion.

In The Federalist, Alexander Hamilton stated that when the proper number of applications had been received, Congress was "obliged" to call a convention and that "nothing is left to the discretion of Congress."

the line of thought is that if the OWS can disrupt enough and the terms are agreeable to enough, the convention can be formed, once formed it will inevitably go liberal as they control more states., because they control more cities and cities hold the population and the popular vote.

after reading the 99% declaration last night and doing extensive research .. I am deeply concerned..

consider this..
1. Implementing an immediate ban on all private contributions of money and gifts to all politicians in federal office from Corporations,

2. The immediate reversal of the "Citizens United" case by the Supreme Court which equates the payment of money by corporations to politicians with free speech.

3. Prohibiting all public officials, whether elected or appointed from EVER being employed by any corporation they regulate while in office.

when you sift through the garbage mouth OWS ideas and a lawyer writes them up in a forum the OWS can get behind. once edited a bit, you get, many of the Ideas can be traced to ideas that the TEA Party have supported..

then it doesn't seem so far fetched that you could get broad support for at least half the ideas and open a Constitutional convention.. bypassing congress.. with majority rule..

once the Constitution is opened.. we are subject to majority rule..

feel free to read the list .. look at their convention structure.. and most of all find points that we could all agree on..

such as number 9. Term Limits.

80% or better support in the US.. something sinister is happening

ouch

Yep. Then they would run a poll and pass a law. Scary.

I sure wouldn't advocate not considering these idiots as scary. But I also don't think the far left has a majority. If they had tried all this before Obamacare and the stimuluses and such, they would have had a better chance. Many people see them for what they are now. Plus, when it comes down to it, I think the following will apply...

The wicked flee though no one pursues,
but the righteous are as bold as a lion. Prov 28:1

What kind of true grit do you think they have?

And I think the following line goes a long way in explaining why we are lacking order.

When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers,
but a ruler with discernment and knowledge maintains order. Prov 28:2

OKFarmer said:
But I also don't think the far left has a majority.

they really don't need a majority in the far left.,.. what they need is issues that a majority will agree on to start with..

such as "term Limits"

it is a bipartisan issue.. few would disagree with it.. in fact out of their 20 or so "demands" one could say well over half of the demands could easily garner majority support..

the two things that struck me as sinister is the convention structure and that most of the demands were mainstream and not far left..

when mainstream demands come from a far left radical fringe group and it is set in the legal style format of a convention.. then there is more to this then meets the eye..

If things go tomorrow in New York like the wingnut on TV tonight claimed, these freaks will have no backing not even by stupid Obama and brain dead Pelosi that feared the truly NON-VIOLENT TEA PARTY rallies. Just ask The Terrorists that took down the Twin Towers and killed 3000 US citizens I don't see the MAJORITY supporting burning down New York and chance killing millions in the attempt to make a POLITICAL STATEMENT. If one bomb goes off in any city and kills someone you can bet the OWS cowards that cover their faces so nobody can ID them will run for the hills and hide in their mommy and daddy's basements until the smoke clears.

They should allow these protests to continue.....they are doing the obama campaign alot of good, and that's what the majority desires, NO?

the protests and the OWS' basement fleas are a smoke screen, a diversion..
a way to get attention..

I feel it will backfire as well , but if they can stay at least a little civil and sill garner attention.,.. they will have a chance...

I have seen to many violent protests and riots in this country lead to appeasement..

if that appeasement leads to a convention and that convention leads to a Constitutional amendment we have a serious problem..

by pushing an extreme agenda and then coming main-stream in a settlement these thugs could win..

if you look at 'every major political action and riot in the history of this country you will see that when things cooled down ,the protestors won.

one example.. and an extreme one..

David wackjob in Waco..

at the time no one supported him... NO ONE.

now even though he gets no support, few would argue that the raid was botched.. and few would argue against putting safeguards in place to prevent it from happening again...

and if you argued against the safeguards you would be looked at as a child killer..

end result,.. cults have greater power to operate and function without police and federal interference ...
