Looks to me that it would be pretty tough to get the hide on those brahmers stretched that tight.

Fat cows stay home :) :)

That rope is tied to a panel. It looks like it is going to another horse, but it isn't. I have to do more tomorrow. I'll take more pictures

I can't believe that you are doing the branding like that by yourself. I am very impressed.

No offence, but if those two babies were here they wouldn't get any rest...
I would be out with them all the time "bugging" them ;they are just way too cute.. Love those ears.. :)

What kind of pasture do you have them, on it looks incredible.

They would have flown away last night. My cows would love to come down to visit yours right about now. Things are slowly turning green but it will still be a long time before they get your kind of tasty treats.

Thanks for the pictures. Those eared calves are really cute.

Now I am wondering "why do Brahma and Brahma cross cattle have so
much ear?" There must be a reason. Does it have something to
do with keeping cool?

The ears and extra leather hanging gives more surface area to cool the critter... :) ...or so I have been told...in the heat of the summer...every one else will be in the tank...the eared cows are under the shade tree or out eating...

Woke up at 5 this morn Per to a full blown blizzard, wind is still howling and the snow is still falling .Those babies would have been flying around here too, just like Dumbo.
No pasture here for a while, but darn did we need this moisture. Now if we can get some heat and sunshine I just may be able to kick the gals out next week. After I feed today I will have 18 bales of hay left and 3 bales of green feed, fingers crossed that I make it to pasture season...

So far no leaks in the house and the power is still on ... :D

I like that all of us are drooling over that lush green pasture the cattle are on in the pics.. :p

Well I guess you can tell we don't have alot of those brahmas around here!! My almost 3 yr old daughter came in and I asked her if she wanted to see that colorful calf and she said yes!! Well then she looked at me sorta funny (like I was crazy) and said "thats a puppy" Oh well can't win them all I guess!!

We just have had howling wind for a couple days-I can't believe how the ground has slurped up all the moisture. It sure looked nice to see the Special Areas desert with water laying everywhere on the way to Calgary last weekend.

Thanks everyone!

hillsdown- I usually hay that ground they are on. I don't know what is all out there for types of grasses. Last year after I hayed it, the clover really came up. The clover really took off early this year. So clover and various grasses?????

A puppy.... that's funny! :) My 3 yr old boy wants to rope them real bad.

Yes.... :) I love it when them little brahmers start letting me scratch them! I sit out there with them everyday so they get used to me.

mcgee213288- Thanks for posting those pictures! Good looking stock! I should live in Texas with my taste in cattle.

more pics...I'll be done for awhile now. :)

I had to do some shoein today
IMG_4942.jpg

I'll be riding the funny looking horse on the far left someday. :)
and... yes, those are dog food sacks hanging on that horse. I was starting to saddle some of them and I make them wear milk jugs and
sacks while they wait for me to ride them.

the horn a few times the opposite way, then a couple of half hitches
IMG_4954.jpg

back legs tied up. figure eighted loop on the rope.

Thanks RA, awsome explanation. I now know enough to know that I should let the grown-ups do that if it needs doing :D
An operation like that I'd likely get my hat dirty
