Pasture in bad need of rain. Once we get the first two hayfields cut there will be a lot of grass for this bunch in an area around the hayed land.

Is that meadow foxtail the same as Garrison foxtail? A neighbor of mine with meadow ground has some garrison and it is great feed for sure. The cows look like they are surviving. That #30 calf is a good one. So good he could be wearing an H kinda cockeyed instead of the low income iron. Hope ya get a little moisture. We could use some as well if anyone has extra! :D

my meadow are maily meadow foxtail, there is some Garrison foxtail in places, the head on the Garrison is black the meadow green to brown when it ripe. It spreads with the cutter bar, on a wet year it will grow in my dry farm alfalfa on the clay soil on the hill during a wet year.

Your cattle look very good despite the dry weather. Thanks for the pictures.

They are doing OK. We need to put a couple of cross fences on this pasture as they want to camp on the drier areas and leave the spots where they might get their feet wet. There are about 150 acres that the grass is 18-20 inches tall but it doesn't dry up until late August.

Looks pretty good down there gcreek. I especially enjoy the hay pictures without grasshoppers in them. I had kinda forgot that grass hay comes with leaves :?

Wouldn't grasshopper silage be high in protein and TDN?
Hope you get some moisture soon Silver, if it wasn't for those flatlanders hoggin' it all.............
I am not really wishing for rain now, sprinklers are on the oat patch and it is too close to haying for moisture.
