Puddles on the road. We got rained out and couldn't go to the hay field, so decided to take our team and buggy to the Bennett County Fair in Martin, South Dakota. Thought we'd better give Homer and Jethro a bit of a work-out before submitting them to the social pressures of society.

Hope we don't wreck, because no one is watching the road ahead.

Homer and Jethro have to do all the work, while the rest of us just ride along.

Looking back. It was good to see Big Swede's wife and Big Swede's dad right behind us in a nifty buggy.

It is always with a great feeling of pride when our country's flag is presented. Mud was a bit of a factor at the rodeo that followed.

Can't really call it biting the dust when you come up with a mouth full of mud.

Kids calf scramble; there was a bog that flat out trapped the youngsters. It was pretty entertaining for the spectators.

jackets in August?

The jackets felt good all last week. This week will be hot, with temperatures expected to be in the nineties for several days.

Peach didn't participate in the parade. She, Sunflower, and our new daughter-in-law took in two wedding receptions on Saturday afternoon. The Kosmo Kid rode shotgun with me in the parade, but I forgot to take his picture.

So are ya bringing the team to Valentine for our fair parade...which is coming up this week???

Probably won't make it to the parade but would like to attend a rodeo if everything goes right.

I bought this team when they were three-year-olds, but can't remember what year that was. They are about fourteen years old now. Just guessing, they probably each weigh around 1750 pounds. If we'd had good horses like these back when we were feeding hay with horses, we might still be using them on a daily basis.

Homer and Jethro look like they could use a few more workouts- they apparently have been enjoying the easy life and green grass...
