What in the world are you doing with the water buffalo?

How's their temperament?

The few I was around in Egypt in a couple of villages, were real pizzers!!!!!

Kinda like an outta control school bus with horns!!!

Water buffalo are tempremental, and just love to escape and head for town, not really aggressive untill there are calves, then the whole herd becomes protective. The electric fences must be maintained at maximum voltage to keep them in. We keep them for Mozzarella cheese which is produced on the estate, we also have the in-house abattoir, farm shop, composting etc to produce all the branded "organic" produce.

My first thought was Mozz cheese...and coming from them, I bet it's divine!!! Yummy!

I've eaten their cheese....but never the meat.

Cool!!!

MsSage, the Jerseys are pedigree, imported from Denmark, they are from a strain that milks well off grass which is essential for the organic production which is the main market for the estate produce.

nice operation. How do you milk a water buffalo :???:

We run them through the milking parlour after the Jerseys, they take twice as long to milk, and produce a quarter of the milk the machines are not changed in any way between the cattle and Buffalo.
The meat is lean and well flavoured, closer to venison than beef, we sell all the meat at a premium directly to resteraunts, and through the farm shops.
