I sure like Sparky's oil truck. If he were closer i could fill him up. :D

Sparky bought that truck dirt cheap from a fire department. I think he paid about a thousand dollars for the rig, complete with the water tank. He has a knack for finding these good deals.

Sounds like Sparky got a heck of a deal on that truck, practically assuring himself of 'almost free' heat for some time to come. If I were a little closer to a reasonable supply of used oil I'd sure take advantage of it myself.
It's not often you see a welder in these parts practice any degree of frugality. Probably comes with mobile welding rates being north of $100 / per hour

Which side of the family tree do the beards come from? It seems a lot safer to have one as a cowboy, than someone using a welding torch...

It's a wayward limb that grows wild and branches off of the main family tree.

With or without a beard, the old kid is pretty handy. Here is what he made to give his mother for Christmas.

I was just thinking that Young Abe Lincoln there was always a clean cut cowboy before the wedding occurred.

I'd like to hang out in Sparky's shop for a day. I bet it would be fun and educational. Might stay close to that oil heater while I took in the happenings.

Thanks for the pictures. Interesting as always. What are you paying per head per day for the wintering of those heifers, if I may be so forward?

He stands behind his work also. Not always easy to find in today's world. Honesty runs in the family.

Thanks, flyingS, but sometimes honesty can be too blunt.

You never know about her. The boys got their creativity and inventiveness from her side of the family. I provided them with the ability to grow whiskers.

If you get through this neck of the woods, stop by Sparky's shop. He always has something going on. He was making a belt sander yesterday. He machined all of the "round thingies" with his lathe. He figures he'll have a twelve hundred dollar sander for only his labor and $200 worth of parts. The sander will be more versatile and user-friendly than others that he has seen, and will be handy for many applications. One use will be in the making of knives.

One dollar per head per day at two different places. One of the outfits is also wintering some yearling bulls for me at $1.20 per head per day, and some two-year-old bulls at $1.40 per head per day. This frees our own facilities up for cows that will start calving in late February.

Do you have a government emblem for the welfare wagon?. I was thinking Kosmo should have gotten a buggy with a slow moving farm vehicle sign on the back for Christmas :) :p  Cool oil rig, sparky is a pretty skilled dude.

I gotta ask about the wall behind the buck. Did you put all those brands on it, or is it wall paper?

This wall is in my friend's house. It isn't wallpaper, but I'm not too sure how they put up the brands. I should have asked more questions, but was busy taking pictures of bucks and bobcats. I will try to find out.
