Sparky's new Bobcat. He heard that it was parked along a fence row, where it had rested for the past twelve years.
Even a little sand had blown over the top of it. He acquired it for $500 in "as is" condition. Within forty-minutes of arriving at the site,
he had it started and was driving it up on his flatbed trailer. He is kind of like Tom Sawyer, because Sunday night some of his friends
were visiting in his shop. They were painting the Bobcat while Sparky was eating an apple looking on.

Sparky is a miracle worker!! That bobcat looks really sharp!!

What horse is Kosmo riding in these pictures? He look young.

Thanks for the pictures. I used to enjoy riding in just about
any weather. Not any more...The coldest place there is, is on
the back of a horse. But I love 'em anyhow. :D

This is a coming-four-year-old roan gelding that the Kosmo Kid bought a year ago last summer. He broke the horse himself. The horse is good, but not great. I'd take my mule to his horse.

Sparky does like those "Vintage" machines.

Is iron like wine? does it get better with age? :D

In Sparky's eyes it's "the older, the better."

Is that water drain hose coming off the air filter? Never thought of that but it would work. Cool fresh clean air from outside the engine compartment should make the ol' Wisconsin(?) happier.

And I note Sparky's new purchase also uses similar tire mounting technology to GC's green tractors. :p :p :p

This makes the machine turn on a dime going one way, and turn on a quarter going the other way.

Soap, that makes so much sense it's scary!  8) I went back and edited my post with a ?. The engine is a Wisconsin, correct? I don't know much at all about old Bobcats and was assuming that. Might be a Kohler or something else?

I'm just a common ol' cowboy, not a motor man, so I can't enlighten you.

Speaking of tires, my feed pickup hasn't been handling right lately. It pulls to the right when traveling down a highway, and bucks and jumps while doing it. Finally decided to get to the bottom of these troubles yesterday. It turns out the right front tire was egg shaped instead of round. When it was put on the balancing machine, one side read 14.5 and the other was 7.25. The tire technician said that was pretty unbalanced. I asked if the tire was drunk, would this be quite a bit over the legal limit. The answer was an emphatic "yes." :)

I've had radial tires "slip a belt" or whatever they call it with similar symptoms. Usually could find it by running my hand over the tread of tire feeling for bulges. Gotta be careful in case some of those sharp wires sticking out.

I'm glad your drivability problem was only a tire and not something mechanically wrong with the pickup. And you found it before you had to change a flat in a snowstorm.

He would have just got on the cell and called Peach.

Thanks for the photos Soapweed. You might tell Sparky there is a country welding shop for sale up here. I think he would fit right in. Never know, your loss might be my gain. :D

My pickup always pulls to the left when it goes through town, right to the bar! :D Should probably have it looked at too.

That sounds more like an egg-shaped steering wheel rather than a tire that isn't round. Have you considered the ramifications of more spare time to become a barfly in your evaluations of less work with the late spring calving program? Would this go down on the positive or the negative side of the ledger? :)

Soapweed is that mule real smooth to ride-he sure loks like he's built to be-I just missed getting a team of mules a couple weeks back-I've always wanted to try driving some.

The mule is very smooth to ride, and he has an enjoyable ground-covering fast walk. He's maneuverable enough that he can cut cattle pretty good also. I sure wish he didn't kill calves. :(

Mules make a great buggy team because of their fast walking ability, and they are tough. On a wagon train trip, they can cover significantly more ground in faster time than horses.

I'll take a fast walker any day if your half handy you can do just about all your cow work at that speed. My buddies treat yearlings with their 60 footers hardly ever rope a thing on the run.
