A headache

Our health care system is breaking under the costs of people from other countries coming in here and using our services when they have perfectly good medical /health in their own country,

Taking up a hospital bed that an AMERICAN TAX PAYER could use...for a minor ailment....like a HEADACHE or a HANGNAIL or GAS PAINS or anything else that could be treated w/ over the counter drugs at ANY drugstore in North America.....

Is this fair????

<,Esp. when they sit across the border in the foreign country and want to pontificate on the evils of our system...but yet get a pain crosswise and here they come running>>

Please provide evidence that a person coming across the border and paying for your health services is "breaking" your health care system and not subsidizing it.

Public health care is provided to all Mexican citizens as guaranteed via Article 4 of the Constitution. Public care is either fully or partially subsidized by the federal government, All Mexican citizens are eligible for subsidized health care regardless of their work status via a system of health care facilities operating under the federal Secretariat of Health

seems all is not so good for the foreigners who depend on their governments for free health care.. :?

Was just thinking, if a few Canadians that are paying for services coming across the border for health services is breaking the system, what's going to happen when obamacare adds 30 Million people to the system?

Are you admitting that adding those 30 million to the list of insured will increase wait times for beds, and costs?

Do not expect kolo=jingo to grasp the fact that it is not her arch enemy Tam is not the one at fault, but her hero Obama and the wastage of OUR money,

But...I thought you didn't have health care fit enough for the ol' gal there in Canada.......... OR did you run her across the border???
I guess she knew she wouldnt get in to see a Dr so they came across the border and PAID for care.
Seems like whatever Tam did she was dammed.

Too bad ms ankony farms has never had to suffer with the debilitating pain of a migrane. She might have a tad bit of compassion for others who suffer through. I do know God has a sense of humor.

Well, jingo2, you are living up to your moniker with this statement, i.e. jingo: belligerent nationalist--an extreme patriot, especially somebody who advocates hostility toward other countries. I take it you are against all of the foreign leaders and foreign citizens who have taken advantage of the abilities and care of our great surgeons, also? I am confused, since you seem to have been a proponent of universal health care. On the flip side, Miss Tam, I hope you are feeling better and as a dual citizen, I think you have the right to all the rights and liberties afforded our citizens. Jingo is just a little miffed today, it seems, and as my daddy used to say, “Sounds like a personal problem to me.”

I guess this whole thread started because of me so before it goes any further let me clear up a couple things so we can base this debate on some facts instead of speculations.

First, it was not just a head ache it was a Serious Migraine something that until you have one you should not judge. As I see nothing funny about having to be isolated from family members in a dark quiet room, being pumped full of fluid to keep you from dehydrating because you feel a need to through up with every spasm of your brain.

Migraines are the primary example of vascular headaches, which are classified as headaches caused by an abnormal reaction of the cerebral arteries (the arteries that provide blood supply to one's head). There are three stages in the classic form of migraine:
The aura
The headache
The post-headache stage

The aura stage of a migraine headache consists of neurological symptoms that last anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. They usually include numbness, visual disturbances, dizziness, ringing in the ear and or weakness on one side of the body.

The headache phase may be limited to one-half of the head, but can spread to the other side; nausea, sensitivity to light, diarrhea, vomiting, excessive perspiration and or chills often accompany the headache phase. This phase can last from hours to days, and the person affected often looks ill.

During the post-headache stage, the skull on the affected side remains tender and the person may feel physically exhausted

Migraine is a complex disorder involving the brain and the blood vessels around the brain and head. The brain may become hyperactive in response to certain environmental triggers, such as light or smells, for reasons that are not known. This starts a series of chemical changes that irritate the pain sensing nerves around the head and cause blood vessels to expand and leak chemicals which further irritate the nerves.
---Snip----
Symptoms and Complications of Migraine
Migraine headaches are more severe and last longer than regular "tension" headaches. The pain is more localized, often concentrated over one eye. Severe headaches that affect only one side of the head are generally due to migraines. Migraine headaches are often associated with nausea and vomiting as well as hypersensitivity to light and noise. The headaches are often made worse by movement or bending over. As a result, migraine sufferers tend to lie still in a dark, quiet room and avoid any type of stimulation.

About 1 in 5 migraine sufferer experiences an "aura" just before the headache comes on. Auras are visual effects that can include flashes of light, lines with vivid colours, or double vision. Occasionally patients may feel weak or slur their words. These symptoms usually disappear after 15 to 30 minutes, only to be replaced by crushing pain and, in some cases, severe nausea.

Now that we are all on the same page of why I was hospitalized.

Second I would like to know where our resident expert on everything doing with my healthcare got the idea I was in a US hospital? :?

When the facts are I have not been admitted to a US hospital in at least 15 years. Therefore I have had nothing to do with the destroying of the US Medical system. That my guess is being done by the foreigners coming across the southern border that Obama and the Dems don't seem to think are a big threat to the US.

In the last 15 years I have been admitted three times due to emergencies in Canada.

Third, I have in the past voiced my concerns about our healthcare system BUT while doing that I have also said there are parts that are not bad. Mine and a whole lot of others main concerns are waiting lists where people risk further illness due to delays in medical attention. The reason for waiting lists are Rationing ie $$$$$ and a Lack of Healthcare providers. The Doctors we do have are over worked and often result in wait times to see them at their offices, which results in more and more showing up at hospital emergency rooms where it cost a lot of $$$$$ to treat hangnails and sniffles, which leads to more rationing due to $$$$$.
The one thing about all medical systems, Canada's included is when you go to the emergency you get treated. That is why people that can and should wait for treatment show up there verses waiting for a doctors office scheduled appointment.

Fourth, Since BMR contacted the hospital and asked what he should do with me as he was concerned about my weakened conditions and was advised to bring me 90 miles to the emergency as they felt it was a true emergency and even commented the next day about how lucky I was that BMR brought me in when he did, Why would I not access the healthcare system that I have been paying for EVERY TIME I PAY MY TAXES?

Fifth just so Jingo can stop worrying I pay for healthcare insurance to cover me if I were to ever in need of emergency care in the US. So I doubt even if I had been admitted in a US hospital where I have family working I would DESTROY THE WHOLE US HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

Atta girl Tam. Now there's a whole lot I agree with and like about that post

Glad you're feeling better.

Thanks Silver I have never said I hate our system. What I have said is there are parts of our system that if not fixed very soon are going to bring it down. The biggest part is the wait times as the more that have to wait for medical attention no matter the seriousness of reason, the more that are just going to show up in the emergency wards that are meant for TRUE EMERGENCIES. The less Doctors we have the more people are going to be forced to show up at Emergency wards meant for TRUE EMERGENCIES. Something has to be done before those that are a true emergency case are buried under the weigh of those just seeking to avoid waiting for a doctors office visit for simple treatments.

With my simple headache case  , when I got to the hospital and the nurse saw me, she told me she was going to convinced the doctor to see me first, even though I could hear people were already in the emergency ward waiting to see the Doctor.
The next morning when the doctor did rounds he came in and commented that he was surprised to not see me sitting up smiling wanting to go home. That is when he realized there was something more wrong than a simple head ache  . He started asking questions and doing tests and told the nurses that I would not be going home like he had told BMR.

That evening our doctor came in for the first time to see me and asked what I thought about the new Doctor. I said he seemed very nice. I told him I had made an appointment two weeks earlier to see him in his office the next day but it didn't look as if I was going to be there. He said he understood and would cancel the appointment for me. He gave new med orders based on the test results and told me he would be back in in the morning. When he came back he told me he was going to wait to see how I was feeling that evening before letting me know when I was going home but chances were it would be Friday. Later in the afternoon, due to the nasty winter storm that was forecasted for Friday and BMR being in, he decided as long as I was keeping food down he would allow me to go home early, as long as I thought I could handle it.

Gee sleeping in my own bed verses taking up a hospital bed that another Canadian Tax Payer could be using. :? OH What should I do? :?

I chose to come home leaving the room open for the next patient as not to chance destroying our healthcare system over my frivolous head ache .

I just hope the next person is as considerate when it comes to allowing somebody else to occupy one of our limited hospital beds.

BTW I speak out about Obamacare as I can see that what the Dems really want is a system like ours, SINGLE PAYER and I see it having problems just like ours but in just a much larger size. Anyone that thinks you can insure 30 million more people and it will not affect quality of care and the deficit is just plain delusional or a liberal Democrat. True the US system needs to be fixed but a government take over is never a good Idea, just ask those living in countries with Socialist healthcare systems. If they are willing to tell the truth they will admit many countries are looking at ways to fix their deeply troubled over burdened systems.

Where is kolo=jingo's rebuttal to Tam's post? or does she intend to do her usual post and hide routine?
It is really sad that kolo=jingo is so jealous of the rest of the women in the world she has no respect for herself the she feels the need to make an a$$ of herself every time she posts.

Well let's hope that I gave Jingo just enough rope on where I was Hospitalized that she/he/it was able to hang her/him/itself.

The big thing about how she jumped on the whole headache deal and couldn't let it be for what it was, is it told about her true feelings. She exposed her soul

Tam, I hope you are feeling fine now. I can sympathize, I have migrains occasionally and they are nothing to be trivialized or used for a personal attack. I'm glad you received the emergency care you needed.

The opposition to ObamaCare is about a governmental take over to force everyone toward the single payer system. There is nothing in it to combat the fraud, abuse, or an attempt to address the much needed tort reform regarding medical malpractice.

It is obvious that kolo-jingo has never had a migraine head ache or she would have just kept her mouth shut.
Personally have a few but nothing like I know some people have.
Personally know of one person who pulled the trigger because of his was so severe!

Just shows the class of kolo-jingo
