I heard it was going to be. I hope they're wrong. It was too hot here yesterday, and it's supposed to be again today.

Youain'tagonnabelieveit! High today down here around 70. Low last night in the low 50's. No mosquitos, very few flies.

Dont worry though. The hot weather will be here soon enough.

Same way here Mike. It's been down in the 40's at night and low 70's or maybe even high 60's for a high in the day time. Sure not good hay weather but helps my seed crop mature nicely. I just checked the temp. It's almost noon and it's 71 degrees with a slight breeze and some big white fluffy clouds. Nice day.

I hope you are wrong Mrs. Greg- but it is starting to remind me of 1988--except that year it was 102 in May and 112 the first week of June....

Its only 80 with a little breeze at noon now- but its supposed to get 90 both today and tomorrow....Actually not too bad now- and with everyone in the valley irrigating there is the sweet moist smell of the water on the hayfields.....Kind of enjoyable cruising around with the 4 wheeler this morning checking water and shooting gophers.... :D

Well I hope its not another drought year because if it is...

We usually move cows to pasture Long weekend May{this weekend} Greg went down last night to check fences, make sure gates are closed ect.He came home not too happy, grass isn't growing there, cattle won't be going this weekend for sure!

Another thing thats got me wondering what kind of year we're going to have is..tommorow we have two meterologists{sp} coming to our small town to give a talk on how tell the signs and how to deal with summer storms :???: What the heck is that about???

It's about being in the wrong business...when we have to rely on weather.

How something so RIGHT can turn into something so wrong. Sorry about your grass. We need a rain badly right now.

Summer storms, huh? Well, tell us what you learn, please.
We might need to know. :?

Looking at the long range summer forecast put out by the Climate Prediction Center is not optimistic :( Looks like most of the Northwest (including a big portion of Montana- except the east) ) is being predicted as Above normal temps- Below normal moisture...

http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/long_range/lead02/off_index.html

June is our big moisture month and can be the make or break month...

Must be some of these speculators looking at the weather reports too-- that and the drought in the winter wheat country (Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas etc...) has caused wheat prices to jump--Now if we can get a crop....

Northern Ag radio today said that Montana's Golden Triangle Area (Shelby, Havre, Great Falls) was getting dry and that the winter wheat was starting to suffer.......

Makes you wonder what some of these guys are going to do with these $1500-1600 cows they just bought if the grass don't come.....

We have been SO cool here that the sring grass hasn't really gotten going well. Strange. It has grown enough that it is grazable but pastures that have been cow free for 2 weeks have almost no recovery and the spring barley that was planted is just crawling along... The corn that was planted in late April is barely 2 inches tall still, looks all yellow and nasty... We have warm weather coming here.. I am being told be some that this is a bit what 88 was like.. Cool and moist spring and than no rain starting June... Last year we just had no rain period but it never got very hot.....

Its 3pm and up to 90F in the shade here now. Me and my colts arent used to this. I dont know how Americans way down south can stand this heat!
Friggen nose flys out already and bubble bees following us around. This heat makes it hard to work on my colts.

In the 90's today, too doggone hot for May in Montana. I sure hope this isn't a hint of what this summer is gonna be, we'll be looking for fires during lightning storms, watering the heck out of our lawns (they are already turning brown), and not be able to put up hay. I will be optimistic, we will have good moisture for all summer :D
