The Declaration of Independance was a well written document. It is the principles here that we honor when we honor the U. S. Flag. It is not congress or the president that we honor, or our military power, but the individual rights that we have as a government of the people.

It speaks of individual rights (not given by the government) given to us by the creator.

When we begin to think that we look to the government for all of our needs, and the government needs to have laws that control everything, we need to look to a higher power and work to change our government to recognize that higher power.
