When Trayvon Martin was first shot, I said, This could've been my son. Another way of saying that is, Trayvon Martin could've been me 35 years ago. And when you think about why, in the African-American community, at least, there's a lot of pain around what happened here, I think it's important to recognize that the African-American community is looking at this issue through a set of experiences and a history that doesn't go away.
The only problem with that statement is that, from what I've read, there was no evidence presented that baby Trayvon was race-profiled in any manner whatsoever.
There is an odd disconnect with this particular case.
If I were a cynic, which I'm not, I'd think that most of these race baiters, including The King, wanted there to be a race issue here. There wasn't. Get over it and try giving equal time to the few thousand black on black murders that occur every year in the US. :roll:
