Sandra Cantu and the Plague of Murdered Children: Result of Abortion, Pornography & Liberal Agenda
RFFM.org Commentary by Daniel T. Zanoza

It was horrific. A surveillance tape pictured eight year old Sandra Cantu gleefully skipping away from her home in Tracy, California. Sandra's destination was mere yards down the block to play with a young friend. The video was the last image of Sandra alive before she was brutally murdered, stuffed into a suit case and eventually dumped into a drainage pond where she was left in a temporary, watery grave.

The alleged murderer, Melissa Huckaby, a 28 year old Sunday school teacher and mother of the slain child's best friend, was the last individual Sandra Cantu saw on that fateful day and we can only imagine the horror this innocent child of God experienced during her final moments on Earth.

What makes little Sandra's death even more hard to fathom is the fact her killer was a woman. This fact flies in the face of FBI statistics which indicate most sexual predators and child killers are men. However, data from law enforcement is telling us more and more women are participating in such terrible crimes.
Robert Himmelblau, the Deputy District Attorney from San Joaquin County, stated a homicide charge against Huckaby could also include the special circumstances of rape with a foreign object, lewd and lascivious conduct with a child and murder in the course of a kidnapping.

It is time to identify the reasons why mankind's most precious commodity has become the prey of deviant individuals. The facts behind what seems to be an epidemic of missing, sexually abused and murdered children may be politically incorrect. Yet the facts speak for themselves and the carnage goes on and on.

ABORTION

In a legally-flawed decision handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973, the case of Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in America. That ruling has had a profound impact on our nation's society and culture. The obvious negative impact of the high court's ruling is the murder of over 50 million innocent unborn to date. The deaths resulting from Roe v. Wade were the direct intent of the law. However, the subsequent effect--the sanctioned taking of human life--has been far-reaching in many ways.

The legalization of abortion, essentially, relegated human life into a commodity with no value. Women were given the authority by the court to diminish the worth of babies in the womb under the imagined premise of privacy rights.

It is a fait accompli that this newfound "right" to "choose" who has the right to live or die would be extended beyond the womb. Indeed, the barbaric procedure called partial-birth abortion is a clear demonstration of this reality. This form of abortion has led the nation down a slippery slope which has resulted in a dangerous world for children. In fact, a Princeton University professor believes parents have the "moral right" to kill their children after their birth. Peter Singer, a professor of bioethics at the prestigious institution has set a timeline which would allow a child to be vulnerable to the life and death whims of a parent. Singer feels people with severe disabilities and children up to one month of age should be allowed to be put to death. Like Hitler, Singer seeks "more from the fit and less from the unfit," a philosophy also advanced by individuals like Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, the leading abortion provider in America.

Sadly, these philosophies have bled over into America's mainstream culture. It is apparent many dysfunctional adults see children as mere commodities. The FBI reports those most likely to subject a child to sexual abuse, in many cases for profit, are biological parents. Though abuse of children clearly took place before the legalization of abortion, the liberalization of American society and numerous mitigating factors have led to what has become open season on an entire generation.

Abortion's role in this growing epidemic of sexual abuse and murder cannot be denied. In addition, as desired by the feminist movement--the primary advocates of abortion--women are now equal to men and some have joined the unholy ranks of child predators. The rash of cases involving school teachers--who now see ten year olds as sexual objects--is a clear indication of the deviance wrought by progressives who believe "if it feels good, just do it."

Abortion has changed the way children are looked upon in the United States and in many parts of the world. In a way, the practice has dehumanized children where they are now viewed as mere possessions, subject to disposal. There have been times in human history when children were perceived in this manner and those cultures self-destructed or are the bastions of human degradation, like China. The exact number of those aborted since 1973 is unclear and so is the exact number of children who have become victims of the philosophy related to the procedure. But those numbers and children are real.

PORNOGRAPHY

Before he was put to death by the state of Florida, serial killer Ted Bundy--who may have murdered hundreds of women--told anyone who would listen pornography played a significant role in his monstrous behavior.

Today, it is safe to say millions of Americans of all ages are addicted to porn. But, sadly, it is the youth of America who, according to statistics, are viewing explicit sexual material via the Internet in ever-increasing numbers. Psychologists point out the addiction to pornography by adolescent and pre-adolescent youth may be the leading factor in sexual predation in later years.

Clinical studies indicate the viewing of such material by individuals who do not have the ability to separate reality from fantasy can play an important part in the explosion of sexually-motivated assaults. In layman's terms, men--and an increasing number of women--are acting out their fantasies in the real world. This fact may be playing a crucial role in the attacks on children, according to many experts. Children do not have the psychological tools necessary to deal with the deluge of graphic sexual images which are available on the Internet and draw them like moths to a flame.

Perhaps the reason children are often the victims of sexual assault is because they are easy targets. Individuals who are addicted to pornography, in some cases, act out on their fantasies with children because children are easy targets. Sexual predators often have not developed social skills which allow them to interact with other adults. Subsequently, these offenders choose the most vulnerable as targets for their unfilled sexual frustrations.

Those who are addicted to Internet pornography are hidden from view. For the most part, these individuals participate in their addiction behind closed doors. Unfortunately, some fulfill their prurient needs in public libraries. There have been a number of cases where children have been solicited in libraries with one physical attack occurring in what should be a place of safety for young people.

The horror stories behind sexual content on the Internet and an entire generation growing up with this technology is yet to be told. However, not everyone who views pornography will become a sexual predator or a killer. But even the smallest percentage of those who lack psychological restraints and act out on their fantasies can be devastating for their victims and our society on the whole.

LIBERAL AGENDA

There are other components which assuredly have played a role in what has become an epidemic regarding the sexual predation of America's children. Single-parent households; the assault on traditional marriage as an institution; no-fault divorce; children born out of wedlock; sexual imagery in television, movies and music; and what some believe is the premature exposure to sex education in public schools--this represent the tip of the iceberg which individually may be benign, but cumulatively may have a devastating impact on our culture.

Some times, children are participating in this epidemic themselves, evident in the phenomenon of "Sexting" where young people are using computers and cell phones to send sexual material to their friends. In many cases, this material ends up in the hands of pedophiles. Unbelievably, the state of Vermont is considering legislation which would legalize such activity among young people over the age of 13 who are in a committed relationship.

It is time to put aside political correctness and deal with an issue which has destroyed countless families and communities since the sexual revolution of the 1960's which changed America for forty years running. Amazingly, some say the sexual liberation of a repressed society has been worth the cost. It is a certainty the parents of little Sandra Cantu would not agree.
