About those phone calls

Excerpts; link below; my emphasis.

"The agency in charge of a domestic spying program has been secretly collecting phone call records of tens of millions of Americans, including calls made within the United States, USA Today reported on Thursday."

"But USA Today said that calls originating and terminating within the United States have not escaped the NSA’s attention. “It’s the largest database ever assembled in the world,” the paper quoted one source as saying. The agency’s goal is “to create a database of every call ever made” within U.S. borders, it said the source added.

The NSA has “access to records of billions of domestic calls,” USA Today said. Although customers’ names and addresses are not being handed over, “the phone numbers the NSA collects can easily be cross-checked with other databases to obtain that information,” it said.

And the guy who set it up is nominated to run the CIA.

You would think that if they can come up with a computer system that can analyze and sort thru ALL THOSE millions of phone calls looking for Mohammed al Whuzdat.....they'd come up with a system to track immigrants also.

I dont see what the big deal about this wire tapping is, If you are not breaking any laws or doing something you shouldnt be, you dont have anything to worry about, so stop complaining and let the government do their job. If this happens to stop the next terrorist attack Im all for it.

You may be willing to give up your some of your Constitutional rights, but I'm not willing to give up mine. And I'll keep complaining about this Administration stepping on them every time I get a chance. It's a sorry legacy you're leaving to your children and grandchildren if you set back and let this bunch of incompetents ignore the Constitution.

 Yeek!

How many Constitutional rights are you willing to hand over to the government?! Or is the Fourth the only one? And will you be equally happy when a liberal-controlled government gets to do the exact same thing??
Would you have no problems if the sheriff's department decided to do a search of your house this afternoon? I mean, if you're not doing anything wrong afterall...

For me personally, I kind of value the Constitution. I think it has a bunch of good ideas in it...

People think this only involves their calls to Grandma and such....but your bank records, your medical history, your insurance info....all of this information is transferred back and forth VIA telephone!!!

These emails we post....all fly digitially thru the phone systems.!!!

The problem is the apathy thinking, " well what I talk about is not important to anyone".....but the question is to whom ??

The Supreme Court held, in 1979 that the telephone numbers a person dials is not subject to privacy rules. The content of messages, of course, is another story.

If these billions of calls revealed that a certain telephone had called Pakistan or Saudi Arabia dozens of times, and that there isn't a reasonable reason, wouldn't that be good to know?

My response - Don't care much for Republicans or Democrats. Most of the politicians seem to be crooks anyway, but I still have nothing to hide, If a Republican or democrat wants to see if I called Pakistan or Iran thats fine. Dont use a phone that much anyway, and there isnt much of anything interesting in my house either :D
