ABS Reps

Does anyone happen to know any old abs reps that would have been peddling semen back in the 70's and 80's. I am trying to find semen on an older bull we used back then that was a hereford abs bull. I have had no luck with abs directly.

Does anyone have any old abs publications from the 70's or 80's.

You had to bring up that F1 son of a gun-till 7777 I didn't know black cows bred hereford could have grey calves. I've got the catalogues here I just need to find them. Cowsense put a pic up of that bull my Montana buddies are interested in.

Found a pic of the old shorthorn bull TPS Coronet Leader-when Bob Gordon-his breeder-was our sire selector at Western Breeders you could tell he liked a bull if he compared him to the old Leader bull. I'd use him in a minute if I could. Anybody know where there's some Pioneer 701 of EAR semen-I'd like to find some.

I don't mean to sound dumb here, but EAR means Elmose Angus Ranch to me. Are we speaking of the same, EAR????

I used to know Mike Elmose, I could ask him...if we are talking the same EAR...

I'm intrigued by the story of breeding baldies using Lent's line bred hereford bulls - apparently some come out with hereford markings, including having hereford horns. They put it down to the prepotency of his bulls - has anyone witnessed this or have photos?

No matter how prepotent his bulls, if you've got purebred Angus, you better not have horns or your Angus ain't so pure!

BTW, He lives about 30 miles from me and while his program has lot's of positives, I'd say ease of fleshing and early maturity would NOT be at the top of the list of traits you'd see.

Years ago we spoke for a son of a bull called PS Sasquatch.
When we went to pick him up, he had nubbins...we passed and we
never bought that bloodline again. Perhaps it came from the dam.
???????????????? Didn't Traveler 722 have the reputation for
'nubbins' showing up in his offspring from time to time?

Got to blabbing and didn't answer your question: >>has anyone witnessed this or have photos?<<

Not personally or photos, but this is part of his "sales spiel" when you talk to him. He told me the story as well. I chalk it up to commercial angus with some horned genes lurking a few generations back.
