Add this rule to the Photo Contest

Everyone knows I hate rules, but this has come up in the past and
I'm going to add it to the rules.

In order to be fair to everyone we will not allow
EDITING, FRAMES, etc.
Not everyone knows how to do this and we want to keep
the playing field level. I've added editing to the catagory list for
Oct. 19-25.
We encourage editing, framing, etc. in this particular catagory.
Thanks for your understanding.

We look forward to the entries every week because this is YOUR
Photo Contest.

How can you tell if a photo's been edited?
Every photo I've entered has been edited to some degree, whether it be cropping, contrasting, sharpening or whatever!
When judging photos, half of the score comes with presentation, which includes but is not limited to framing.
Everyone that enters can do the same thing with their photos, and that software for the most part is free!
So I have to say, FH, I disagree with your rule! :(

I think this contest is suppose to be for fun...for everyone and anyone NOT just serious semi pro photograhers....
As for score....we dont get a score only what people like the best.
My advice is if you have to have a score enter a "real" photo contest not a fun for all.
You have some on here who do ALOT of editing everyday and are very good at it...then you have some who are lucky to get the photo loaded on the site....let alone photoshop or whatever photo edit program you use.

Come on the real talent is taking a awesome shot, and enter it straight out of the camera.....Other wise your a graphic artist.

Oh so you were one of the ones, Frank. :p

Sorry, the rule stands. Makes it fair for all.
We have an edited catagory coming up. I'll try to add more
edited photos so we have them more than once a year.

It is for everyone, and it is fun!!

The score I was referring to was the mental score I give each photo I look at (or judge)!
My advice is if you have to have a score enter a "real" photo contest not a fun for all.
The judging I've done doesn't involve a real score, merely a Blue, Red or White, and two of the participants get Purple's!

I have not seen "ALOT" of editing in any of the photos entered! I have seen some with a simple one-click B&W, and a one-click Framing! And they added a lot to each photo. And it's proven that those don't win all the time either!
Come on the real talent is taking a awesome shot, and enter it straight out of the camera.....Other wise your a graphic artist.
I have one "shot" I took this summer that is "straight out of the camera", no cropping, sharpening, or editing of any kind! One in about 3,000 that I've taken this summer!
But.......rules are rules, so I guess I'll play by the rules!

For what it is worth, I am too lazy to photo shop, frame crop etc. I don't mind my photo up against them though. Most of the "Judges" here are judging the content anyway. For me, sometimes the frame takes away from the content. I just like lots to choose from so send in those pics.

Maybe I don't exactly follow the intent of the photo contest. I don't take as many pictures today as I did years ago. Many of the pictures I submit to the contest are scans of old pictures I took with a film camera. Many of these have been enhanced, especially for color by the developers. Some I like that way, some I don't. A scanner will sometimes enhance a picture also.

I don't believe it is fair to do a lot of editing, I would discourage it. Sometimes, maybe we have to grin and bear it.

After thinking it over these past few days, I really think we can
crop our pictures. Most everyone knows how to do that, so
it would be fair for all. Lots of background distracts from the subject.
So go ahead and crop.

Thanks Frank, for your input here.
I can hardly wait to see that photo you talked about!!
