Advice, Please?

Tomorrow is Al's High School Graduation party. For this event, I have made some forms for everyone to fill out, giving him a bit of advice to commemorate the occasion.

Since you guys obviously can't be here, I thought I'd share the form, and let you give him some advice too. Please just copy the form underneath, paste it into your own post, and I'll print them out when there is no longer any activity on this thread. If you'd rather, just PM the completed form to me, and that way, if you give info you'd rather not share with the whole cyber-world, it'll be safe. I hope you all know that you can trust me. Thanks for your input.

Advice for Albert, upon his High School Graduation

Do with your life what you want and love to do. Don't do what you hate just to make a living.

Don't bend to other people's rules just cause it makes THEM happy.

Be the best person you can be. Treat everyone with respect, and in turn they will treat you the same.

Follow your dreams, even if they seem silly to other people.

Wait for true love, you will find it even if it takes a long time.

My advice is,

Everything bad always gets better.

Do what your heart tells you to do, unless you have indigestion at the time, then use something not all people have, common sence.

Have fun with what you're doing. If you hate the job, it is not worth it.

Don't do something just for money. Money isn't the most important possession in the world. A loving Family is.

Now that you're al educated, come do my homework for me .

Congrats Al. :dunce: :drink: :cboy:

From Lilly and a mushy card that I just love. Congratulations Al, here's to many successes throughout your life.

My advice to you, Albert, is

1. Trust your Instincts - If it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't....fun, tempting....maybe, but not right.

2. Remember your Manners - It doesn't cost you anything, but it speaks volumes about who you are. Having class starts with this.

3. Never let Possessions Own you - It's just stuff!!! The most valuable things in life: friends, respect, love, knowledge - don't cost money....Hokey but true.

4. Nurture Your Friendships - The investment you make in true friends will pay huge dividends all your life - remember, you can't make an old friend.

5. Keep your hands clean - This is meant both literally and figuratively...it will save you alot of regrets later.

6. Believe in yourself - Yeah this is another hokey one, but you do happen to the the only you, in existence, and you're also the only person in the world who can truly hold you back in life....Think about it.

7. Be Grateful - Don't waste all your todays in anticipation of some grand tomorrow. NOW is all we've got, Live in it.

8. Treat others the way you want to be treated. - (Ok so I didnt make this one up) - The point is, just because you're smarter or richer or prettier than someone else doesn't mean you're better. It just means you've been more blessed.

9. Always keep Playing - Who says adults have to give up toys? Keep the little kid inside you alive...it keeps your imagination primed. Silly is good.

10. No Matter What, you will always be loved. - You don't have to test this one.....Just carry it around in your back pocket, and know that, no matter what, you can always come home.

If you can only remember one, Remember that you ARE Loved. :D

Congratulations on your graduation from High School Albert!

While I'm not a great Shakespeare fan, this piece of verse says a lot.

”This above all: to thine ownself be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.”
-Shakespeare-Hamlet

Of course my other non-Shakespeare favorite is, "If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is."

Thanks, everyone! I'll be printing this out very soon, and putting in Al's graduation scrapbook for him. Hopefully, he'll take it out and read your kind words of timeless advice, and remember back on this time in his life with fondness.

When you get into college, or out in the real world, you're going to run across people with drug addictions that will try to pull you down with them. That's just what people with addictions do, use people and drag them down with them. The thing is, if they don't quit they're going to end up in jail, dead, or down and out with health problems they can't come back from. Stay clean, and with a little hard work you can go as far as you can dream. Otherwise, you may spend the rest of your life feeding the monkey on your back.

Albert---sounds to me, young man, that you have had a pretty good start in life with the mom you have!! One lucky man.....NEVER forget that!! Never forget the simple things that your folks taught you...you know...all the "stuff" they said that maybe had your eyes rolling (when they weren't looking, of course) and had you saying "moooooommmmm!!! I know this already!!"!!
Bits of advice are a dime a dozen, so I will throw in my penny's worth!!
Life is hard, but it can also be beautiful and very rewarding.....never miss a chance to celebrate it...WISELY!! Never pass up a chance to "check out" a sunset or a sunrise...ya just never know when another one will come your way!! Never pass up a chance to tell someone close to you how much they mean!!
Follow your heart...even if it means going "against the grain"!! In the long run, it will pay off and you will always be able to say that you were true to yourself and your beliefs!!
PAY CASH!! Credit cards will kill ya!!!
Never miss the chance to learn something new!!! Ya just might find that it leads you down a new, adventurous path!!
Send "thank you" cards...seems to be a lost art!!
Best of luck to ya, young man!! Keep your head up and reach for the stars!! :D
