A bit of a fixer upper but Sara's big brother built her a personalized deer blind-thinking her and Dad will be spending some hours there. Not sure how many deerr we've got over the years crossing that meadow but it's alot-I missed a chance at one of the biggest whitetail bucks I've ever seen right where that stand sits-he was a 180- typical if he was an inch. I never got a shot at him but we were eye to eye at about 15 yards for ten minutes or so-the doe he was chasing finally walked behind me and got my wind and blew my cover-pretty fun day.

The boys built this styand yesterday-hopefully it's bear central in a few weeks-it's so big because they are trying to get the hunt on video tape-I'm thinking of hoisting a couch up there-looks like a good place to sleep to me.

don't go out in the woods today, you'll be in for a big surprise.....don't know the rest of the words you'll have to improvise...

Back east we used to use tree stands for whitetails. We would build them big enough so that we could sleep in them. We would gear up a 12 volt light that ran on a truck battery. The light would be aimed at the carrot pile and hooked up to a switch.
All you had to do was go back to your tree stand after work and sleep. When the deer started crunching on the carrots it would wake you up.
Hit the switch, aim and fire.

Roper you should visit near-northern Ontario to see all the Toronto hunters in the fall sitting at the side of the road in lawnchairs, 50 yards apart, waiting for their deer to come out of the woods. I have a neighbour who runs cattle on Crown Land along a hydro right of way, he puts an ad on the radio every fall to remind the hunters that deer aren't red with white faces so "PLEASE don't shoot anymore Herefords this year!"
