What was the purpose of Mr. Obama's trip to Africa?

Family vacation?

To perpetuate "white guilt"?

To compare Nelson Mandela to George Washington?
There is absolutely no comparison between George Washington and Nelson Mandela.
George Washington was a Founding Father. He presided over the convention that drafted the Constitution and warned the nation against partisanship, sectionalism, and involvement in foreign wars.
Nelson Mandela was… well, a communist and a terrorist.
Mandela was a member of the South African Communist Party. He co-founded Umkhonto we Sizwe, a terrorist organization that killed civilians, including children. Fast food outlets and supermarkets were favored targets. In addition to terrorist bombings, the military wing of the African National Congress tortured and executed suspected government agents.

That sounds like perfect company for Obama.

U.S. president had been a “disappointment.”

Reuters reported that nearly 1,000 trade unionists, Muslim activists, South African Communist Party members and others marched to the U.S. Embassy where they burned a U.S. flag, calling Obama's foreign policy “arrogant and oppressive.”

"We had expectations of America's first black president. Knowing Africa's history, we expected more,” Khomotso Makola, a 19-year-old law student, told Reuters. He said Obama was a “disappointment, I think Mandela too would be disappointed and feel let down.”

some of those overseas have realized Obama is just out to help himself...

I doubt our commies will ever realize it....

Geez if they had just asked we could have told them Obama would be/is a DISAPPOINTMENT and the US tax payers could have saved $100 million dollars on a trip that only proved what we all knew already. :?

The guy has no idea what he is doing and he is not scared to prove it each and every day.

Most world leaders go to another country to improve diplomatic or trade relations, etc. It seems Obama just wanted an all expense paid tour of Africa.

You got it buddy. Then visit with a couple of dignitaries and call it an "official visit" and we pick up the tab. This couple are just kids in the candy store and we're buying the candy.

Wait just a minute............. Buckwheat did go over there to handout a few $BILLION$ for electrifying rural parts of Africa. (Even though our own grid is in significant need of updates, according to many.)

Isn't that good enough reason to go and take the family?

'World Leader' being a term in question. Problem is, he is no LEADER!
He'd like to be a celebrity. Wonder how that works in the Islamic world?

I bet the Chinese are happy to get the contracts, and will use the new electricity to sell and make more products to sell... :?

besides if the Africans are so "off the grid" imagine the carbon they are saving... one would think if getting folk off carbon energy, then getting anyone to cut it's energy usage would be good.. not the opposite

The electricity will all be renewable energy, won't it? We wouldn't want to cause any more global warming!

A visit to the continent of his birth probably makes the trip extra special.
