well, we got a pretty good storm here tonite. thunder and lightning, and the power went out even before the lightning was close. there was lots of wind probly 70-80 mph, the trees were practically doubled over. then the rain came, and some soft hail, but it didnt last too long. there were puddles outside though, but by now they've all soaked in. after everything settled down, hanta came and told me too look outside, and take some pix. here are some that i took

Tap, did you get rain last night?

We got about two-tenths. A customer down by Ekalaka said
they got half an inch. Thunder was really close a few times.
Nice and fresh out there this morning.

The guys around here are getting their haying machinery ready.

Heck we even got 3/10ths last night. Sure smelled good this morning. I hope it keeps coming cause were really dry, no hay crop on the older stands and not much on the newer ones unless we get lots more rain.

We were branding up on the middle fork yesterday- beautiful day- just got done working the bunch we were doing and a little shower came along- then about 9PM we had a storm roll thru- only put down enough rain to get the ground wet...But it sounds like both east and west of us got more......

Definitely going to have some hay this year again-- after our week of rain the new alfalfa shoots coming out everywhere passing the first growth- grass really took off too--alfalfa will be ready to cut in a week or so, but will probably hold off to let the grass in it get full growth.....

Its raining pretty darn good here this morning. We are definately going to have some heavy hay crops this year. Alfalfa likes this wet humid weather!!

MCG---same storm rolled through here a few hours before it hit you folks.....gave us some dandy thunder and much needed drops of rain!! Fortunately, it cleared out in time so we could take the kids to the drive-in movie outside of Butte!! Would have broken those boys' hearts if we had had to cancel out because of weather! :D :D

How long has there been a Drive-In movie outside of Butte?

Sounds like fun!!! As a teenager I used to work at the Drive-In
Theater during the summer and the indoor theater during the winter.
It was a blast. I lament the end of the Drive-Ins. Perhaps they
are making a comeback? Anyway, didn't know there was one outside of Butte. Isn't that a ways to travel? Like how far is it from you?

Old drive-in movie theaters, got me to lookin online, I found areal photos of my hometown. Panned around till I found my highschool, perdy neat.
The old Lobo Drive-in is long gone, they tore it down in the late 80s or early 90s, I think, but that was where we went in highschool to the movies. It had the concession stand in the middle, with swings and slides for the smaller kids. And those "snap crackle pop" speakers ya hung on yer car winder and rolled it up so you could hear the movie. Ahhh, the memories LOL
Summer time we'd all take lawn chairs and put em in the back of the pickup, hang the speaker of the side of the bed, and watch the movie....

We had $1 A Car night. Didn't matter how many you packed in a
vehicle it cost you only $1.

Of course the movies weren't any good, but WHO CARED?

Just think, kids today have no idea how much fun the Drive-In
Movie was. I can't imagine.

One night when our daughter was around 4-5 years old, my
mother was babysitting and took her to the drive-in to a movie mom wanted to watch. Mom wasn't up on the movies very well and this was a movie with some scenes that a child shouldn't see. Not X-rated or anything, just a bit more than a kid should see. When I picked her up the next day, Mom was telling me about the movie. Our little girl indignately said, "Yea, but Grammy covered my eyes in all the good parts!"

Think ours cost $2.00 a car load, and yeah, we packed as many as we could in there some nights.........and the funny part was, we could have easily paid 2.00 for another car.....it was just the fun of seein how many you could pack into one car, or truck. That's when someone's Mom's car usually came in handy.......cuz back then, nearly all mom's drove them big ole bombs. hehe

the drive-in has been located outside of butte for a few decades now!! Located at the turnoff to dillon on I-15....only about 1/2 mile down the road from the turn!! 2 theaters running 7 days a week with 2 different movies....WHAT FUN!!! The kids had a blast!! took the lawn chairs and blankets and a cooler full of soda and we bought the popcorn there and just sat back and enjoyed!! only problem is the movie does not start til 9:30'ish and by the time I drove us home, it was almost 2 in the morning...but so well worth it!!

Ahhhh, someone else went to the Drive In theatre too!!!

Mr TTB, Holly the Corgi Dog and I went Saturday night to the Drive In in Mobridge and saw "Over the Hedge." What a great movie, it was a hoot!!! We laughed the whole time. One of the funniest things that happened all night though occurred when they started the movie, Holly spun around, came to attention and started watching the screen. Up until then she had been watching all the kids play and people walk by. Mr TTB said, "You might be a Redneck of you take your dog to the Drive Inn...." :D

The Mobridge theatre only has one screen and one movie. The Drive IIn in my hometown had one screen two movies, but when I went to college in Ft. Collins, we hit the Drive In "big time." The theatre there has two screens with two movies each!!! It was on Overland across from what was Hughes Stadium (now is Lubick Stadium,) and I wonder if it is still there. Maybe Doc Harris will see this and know.

Thanks for reminding me of our fun Saturday night everybody.

Cheers---

TTB

What great memories...dad would take mom and us three daughters in our 1960 Ford Falcon station wagon, make the back end of the station wagon into a bed, we kids would make it through the first movie, sound asleep by the second movie...Can't find very many Drive In Theaters any more!!!

Looks like I'm the only one that drank myself blind back in high school at the drive in. I omit this fact when I take my kids to the show, but thankfully small town living allows my old cohorts to revel in my once legendary stupidity. My kids seem to need to go to the bathroom alot, which incedentally costs about $20 each trip.
