"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
I think our country came pretty close in the last administration of achieving this prediction.
Whatever anyone thinks of Obama, I think it would be pretty hard to argue he is a moron.

I've always thought of myself as an optimist, but a cautious one. Yes, the ball is solidly in the Dem's court now. Let's see what they do with it. They've inherited a bad situation, and I still say they are to blame for some of it, even though most people apparently didn't see it that way. But make no mistake, things could get worse. I certainly don't want that to happen, but if it does, the Democrats will take the blame because they're the party in power. These things tend to go in cycles.

I fully expect things to get worse before they get better. If we really go into the deep recession that some are expecting, we'll need to spend a lot of money to just keep families going, create jobs. I remember shelters being set up for families who had lost their homes, jbos, cars. Kids trying to go to school every day from the shelters. That costs money. Even if Obama ordered our troops out of Iraq the day he took office, it will cost billions to bring them home. If we're seeing daylight from this mess at the end of Obama's first term, I'll be satisfied. If not, there's no way he'll get elected again.

That's right, go ahead and lower the expectations of Obama, just as the press already has.........................

You and I are on the same page there. Kind of scary aint it?
The Federal Reserve is refusing to identify the recipients of almost $2 trillion of emergency loans from American taxpayers or the troubled assets the central bank is accepting as collateral.
Mike said:Pelosi and Franks were the one touting this bailout as a worthy cause and chastised the Republicans when they didn't vote on it.
Who's the ogre here?
