It was 9 degrees when I left my pick-up.

Some of the mustangs range about fifteen miles south of the trap.

They turn loose a "Judas Horse" to give the mustangs someone to follow into the trap.

They look pretty frightened at first, don't you think?

Thanks for the explanation about the 'Judas Horse'. Was going to
ask why one had a halter and lead rope.

Was it 9 degrees there this very morning???? And some snow on
the ground...

They look to be in good shape. Doesn't take a lot to keep a horse
but they gotta have something. I'm glad they aren't real thin.

Thanks for the exciting pictures, mustang.

I almost wish it was colder with snow on the ground,,, almost,, It 93 here right now and I have a lot of things to do before I see snow again. Like Thursday,, we are headed to the mustang country in H' back yard. I heard the road was closed because of a range fire. I'm hoping we can find a way around it. We will check out the "wild bunch" that live about twenty miles to the north first and then see about the more "picture accessible" ones later in the day

Brings back some good Ol Days!
in 1958 when the Yuma Arizona USFA Base (Now Marine Base) Dude Stable needed Horses that is how we got them. Only we used a USAF Chopper to run them in our Brush Trap, were we'd rope them. We also had a USAF Van that Carpentry Shop made into a Horse Van (Trailer) for us.

the big diff is at was around 100+° and the horse did not look as good - Roman Noses...
