After reading the article that got this thread started two things came to mind...First is,what a wonderful human being Irena Sendler is.The help she gave others during a very sad time in world history should be never forgotten...I think there is a place for her story to be told but more as A life saver then a peace keeper...What she did was brave and we should all strive to show others the kindness she showed those she saved....Bless her heart...
The thing that bothered me is that this writer noel Sheppard brings up her story after the prize had been awarded to Mr Gore...Had this writer any credibility why was he not telling this story years ago,not in 2007? I will not sit here and say Al Gore deserved or did not deserve this prize for peace,as I do not really know the criteria in which one needs to cast,to be given such an award...I do,however, feel this author took Mrs sendler's act of kindness and used it to taint Mr Gores achievements, rather then champion Mrs sendler's heroic deeds..
What we should all take from this is,there are stories that need to be told and we need to find a place for those stories to live on......A peace prize is just something you put on the wall. What Irena Sendler did is prize-less and is worth a front row ticket to heaven...
I thank Al Gore for one thing, had another person won the this prize,Irena Sendler's story may never of crossed my eyes...I just wish all those who helped her along the way got mentioned also....Sometime its not the hand of god that reaches out to help, but more the hands of God...God bless Irena Sendler and those who stood along side her....
