I was supose to finish calving the end of December but I did not pull the bull and we had a calf last week on one still due. This will put the two mommas out of sinc so one goes to the stockyard and the other will need to be held over if i can catch her and her calf to move em.

I need an icon kicking myself in the butt for not pulling the bull.

Smooth as silk.

I just came back in side from PM chores...went thru the barn and packed away all my tattoo gear, calf puller & straps etc. I like to keep all EMERGENCY stuff and general stuff out in easy reach until ALL calving is OVER.

I don't like to hunt for ' stuff' in the event of an ' event'!! I want to be able to lay my hands on whatever I need when I need it.

Lordy...you'd think I lived in Wyoming today!!
This wind is about gusting about 40+ mph!!! It's beautiful...not cold at all...but you better hold on to something. We're not used to this.!

Wow, it must be tough to be done with calving AND not be used to dealing with wind! I really am jealous!

Today was actually okay. It was warmer (40s), and the wind was only blowing 20-25mph :D

The funny thing is that we have a Met tower up, measuring wind speed, and I get disappointed if the wind isn't blowing. You see, someday I hope to make money off of this wonderful wind!

My secret is: Live someplace where ' winter' is only from about Dec 15th to late Feb.or so....and you only have about 20 days below freezing the whole time!!!!

We're already getting lawnmowers ready here, first wave of flowers are up and maple trees are showing their red flowers!!!

Yes, but by May it will be much too hot down there. Back in 1993, we spent the last few days of May in Alabama and the first few days of June in DisneyWorld. The air was too heavy to even breathe and a shower was a futile waste of time. I about melted and said, "Never again." You can always add clothes in the cold, but you can only take off down to about so far when it is too hot. :)

Wanna bet?

I love the heavy air.....maybe that's why my birth sign is Pisces.....I can practically breath water , that's what a friend from NE told me once. He said we practically breathed water the air was so heavy, well yeah if you wear thick bullet proof starched jeans, starched shirt, felt hat and 'kerchief, you'll damn near die in 30 minutes. He even refused.... REFUSED...to even wear tennis shoes.... and went apoplectic when I mentioned short sleeved shirt!!!

All that humidity keeps your skin from drying out and getting premature wrinkles..all sorts of good things!!

Peach Blossom and I had the only Wilson boots in Disney World, and my oldest son and I had about the only straw cowboy hats in the whole place. Some people really liked them and wondered where in DisneyWorld it was that we had bought them. Of course, I wore my regulation long-sleeved shirt and Wranglers. Even though everyone else in the whole amusement park was wearing shorts and tennis shoes, even if I had worn those items, I would have felt more conspicious than I did in my usual apparel.

It gets just as hot and humid here where we live as it does in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. I wear my boots and jeans year round. Hot/Cold whatever. I"m not one to be seen in shorts. Unless of course I'm tucked inside the house sometime shortly before bedtime. I don't wear the long sleeves tho. Not in summer time.

I usta wear shorts, durin the summer time. But after movin down here, where the mosquitoes will literally tote you off, I quickly learned to cover up my skin, and what's not covered, I spray with mosquito repellant. Yes my legs are white. But I don't care LOL. I don't wear sandles cuz the fireants will eat you alive!!!!! Ya just learn to live with it, it's not as bad as it seems at first. You climatize(I guess that's the right word for it) Even tho you still hafta Peeeeeeeellll yer jeans from your body.

We're a bit higher up in elevation so skeeters aren't that big of an issue. We do have fireants now but I've taken vengence on them pretty good and make their death part of my weekly routine!!!

But , come the first heat wave....I'm in shorts and tanktops and flipflops!! Bugs, tractor work , nothing will change me from that outfit till first frost.

I tend to get white streaks across the tops of my feet from the flipflops...put my feet together and I've got the letter " W"....
