I have the Canon S2 IS which is the older model of the S5, and I am very pleased with it. It has taken excellent shots for me, and a fair bit of abuse too, bouncing along on the quad and saddle day after day.

I have the Canon.. I gotta say I love it if that is the size of camera you want.. Sometimes I think I would have liked a smaller one but they just don't "feel" right in my hands. Probably all of those years of using an SLR.. Even the Canon seems a bit small compared to the old Minolta with a 300mm telephoto on lol..

I've ordered the Canon Power Shot S3 IS, but I don't have it yet :? :x
I like it because it isn't super expensive and I can still use different lenses on it.
Here is a pretty good written review about it.

We got a Canon HV20 camcorder with an added lens to 20X. Maybe more firepower than I needed! We've had 3 Cooper's hawks in our yard for a few weeks that I was really eager to film. Now that the tripod is all set up ( a major tripping hazard in livingrm) we haven't seen any hawks since the new camera arrived!
