Almost Branding Pictures

First off I have to tell you the explanation--Grandma doesn't trust me with her camera- she thinks I'm computer and mechanically illiterate :???: and she's right...
Anyway last week we worked cows and branded on Middle Fork- she couldn't come- no pictures...This week she was able to pull herself away from being on call at the hospital for a few hours while we worked cows on West Fork- so I asked her to take pictures....

Anyway day turned out great- after about 1/2 inch of rain it cleared up this morning and was a beautiful day...Few of the help didn't show because they got too much rain- so Grandma got stuck giving shots- didn't take any pictures  until we were done... But the beer, Mikes Lemonade, beef roast, salads, and "better than sex cake" she brought( and she remembered my big R&R bottle) made up for it...

Old Zip got to play baby sitter afterward while we had a toddy- Uncle John had to rescue them because they got to fooling around so much the let him step over a rein- later they were riding him with no reins  I used him to gather today and he was dancing like a colt- we even got to throw a few loops off him and rope some calves before the kids again stole him....

My future trickrider grandson-- Son John and daughter Carla are discussing how they could make him run while Gabe does tricks without stopping to eat....Carla will kill me if she knew I put on this picture of how dirty she was after wrestling calves.....
The old building in the back is now a grainery- but was the first homestead house put up by my Grandfather in 1916- which they lived in until they got the main house built....

After everybody left we waited around to mother everything up before we trailed them the 1/2 mile back to the pasture...I got out of it because #1 daughter (on the left) wanted to ride- On the right is # 3 daughter Carla on Pokey, a 5 year old that really likes to work cows- will really work a rope... In the middle is Carla's buddy Renae- who has helped us since she was in elementary school- She is riding the little black-Coaly- which is my new horse- a 3 year old- altho again today we almost had a fist fight over who was going to ride her...She'll never be over 14-2 but is stocky and just loves to work cows- and even tho I haven't used her much on a rope because of her age, will get right down and dig when pulling something......

Me ( on the right ) and one of my "partners" discussing the day- looking out across the spring pasture... He is 84 years old and his only wish was that he had enough balance left so he could have rode "Coaly" today.....

A couple pictures looking out over the spring pasture and out on the horse pasture (down the West Fork of the Porcupine) The spring pasture was grazed hard this spring, but really coming back- usually use it some in the fall, but leave enough old growth for spring.....

(FH- If you look hard on the first picture there is a tub of Vigortone I haven't gotten hauled over to the east pasture yet just between the trees  - altho the horses seem to like it)

Hahahahahaha, OT. Nope, couldn't see the tub of Vigortone; but then
again I couldn't see horses in the pasture in my own picture!

Nice pictures. Nice that family and old friends can get together and get
a job done. Bet it makes you bust your bottons with pride. 84
years old and wishing he could ride a three-year old. That's my
kind of guy!!:cboy:

The country looks good. Glad you got some more moisture. This
time I think Nashua got some too. Roger called and he said it was
wet there. Mr. FH is grumbling because he was ready to cut hay
last week, but the weatherman said this "wet front was coming in."

All we got was cold and windy. I told him I don't listen to any forcast
besides yours any more. You are the best one!!!

I like the horses, BTW...

In fact FH- I met Roger heading north with a truckload this afternoon just after I got on the highway to head south...

Yeah I think he got more moisture this time- as east of got quite a bit more-- Some areas around Scobey and north in Canada must have got 3" in the last week  :D ...

Anyway- its just nice to see the country looking so green- and there are horses down the creek in my picture too- can't see them now tho   ......

Glad to see everybody getting needed moisture

You are too funny k_ranch.

Good pictures OT. It's nice to see the next generation getting involved around there. It will leave you more "socializing time".  Looks like you have a good crew around there when you get your family together.

Good pictures, Oldtimer. Thanks for showing some from your neck of the woods. The dark clouds of "potential" rain always enhance a picture, too. You are lucky that your family is interested in carrying on the ranching tradition.
