If Texuns are a bit hard to take, try A&M alums its like Texuns raised to the power of 10. All that said, I usually like Texuns' cocky attitude. It used to be that Texuns were considered extra polite and friendly, but somehow that's changed to arrogantand brash. Must be more than 1 kind of Texun.

Oldtimer, says I love to get on this site and argue with the Canadians (which I truly believe is a great country- but an independent country and not part of any North American country), What the heck are you talking about :???: We both live on the North American continent. Just because your country is the United States of America and we are called Canada doesn't mean that we don't share the North American continent.. Maybe we should be called Canada of the Americas and you guys called Central American States. That would fit you guys better anyways with all your Mexicans and CAFTA.

Simple Big Muddy- we are the United States of America...Canada is a seperate country- so is Mexico...We are not the United States of North America like the globalists are pushing for...We both still have seperate governments, seperate laws, and seperate ways of thinking--altho every WTO agreement we sign takes more of our own control of our countries away from us--Even most Canadians I know think they have given up too much of their sovereignty, ownership, and ability to run their own country (Canada) to the US....We (either country) shouldn't have any WTO group telling us who we can or have to allow in as immigrants or what laws we want to have to protect our borders....Mexico is now threatening to sue under NAFTA because we have border guards stopping the illegal immigrants- CAFTA apparently according to Rep. Tancredo opens up our borders to all of Central America and takes away all our ability to control immigration from Central America....

Texans have plenty to be arrogant about. After all, there are more beef cows in Texas than any other state. More feedelots in Texas than any other state. Halliburton is in Texas. And the President of the US is from Texas. Why not be brash and arrogant?

Well Texas is the second largest US state, so its natural that they will have the highest number of cattle, etc........thats kinda like saying lightening kills more people annually than bears.....well duh....lightening is virtually everywhere and bears only make up a small area. anyway....blah!

And i agree on the A&M comment 100%.

Now, TXTibbs, I know people envy Texas, cause my family in California, always find excuses to come. They wanna come. As for arrogance, its no more than a kind of patriotism. How many states had to fight for their land. Most states just had it bought or settled. Alaska, is a just a big economic investment. Texas is a big land that people died for, if I can't be proud of that, I can't be proud of the USA. Tell me... How many states were fought for?

Disagreeable, Bush is a doing a great job for the most part as pres. You're right I'm glad he's in office. I think Sept. 11th may just have been one in a list if Al Gore had been in office. Certainly with Kerry. He would hav made us ask for permission from Europe to go to war. Blah!

Here's a link to an article that lays out sort of a devil's advocate approach to the problem. I don't agree with it, but was wondering what you'd think.

another pro-immigrant article. For some reason, I just don't buy the fact that having the U.S. overrun by illegal immigrants is great for the economy, but apparently that's what some people think.

Yikes Reader, Austin?

There is a Texas saying that God loves Texas, except for a few sections called Austin. Calling Austin, Texas is like calling Lawrence, Kansas; you displease most of the rest of the state.

And Doc still has nothing to offer but insults. Did you decide you want some help with the difference between an "Editorial" and a "Letter to the Editor"? I'd be glad to explain the difference to you. Just ask.

You're in the minority these days if you think Bush is doing a good job as president. The polls are showing that more and more Americans are dissatisfied with the job he's doing. I know lots of Texas that fall into that same category.

Bush did go to the UN and ask for help in the Iraqi invasion. He asked all of our allies in Europe for support. He used the same lies to get their help as he passed off to the American people. The difference is that most of them didn't buy the lies; the American people did. Today they're starting to see the truth and the honest ones are realizing they were mislead. The fools either don't realize it or refuse to admit they were mislead. Which category do you fit into?

I'm impressed Disagreeable. You didn't pass over the statements and change the subject. The fools are making up lies to say their are lies. Asking for help and permission are 2 very different things Disagreeable. Bush said we were going to fight terrorism, and that's what we're doing. He may have been wrong about the WMDs, but that's only the reason we went into Iraq instead of a lot of the other terrorist nations first. But, he is still probably right about the WMDs. Just cause we haven't found a big storage of them doesn't mean there aren't any. But DOc Harris is right about you ricocheting all subjects. You ignore facts that oppose your ideas, so you bring up nrew ones and call the others stupid and foolish. This is a very unstable way to persuade . By the way. You a Mr. or Ms/Mrs.? I feel odd talking with you and not even knowing the gender. It won't make me feel less or more of you either way. but I won't feel odd.
