"American Community Survey"

Has anyone else received their "American Community Survey" in the mail? The questions on the form are invasive to say the least. Clearly, questions such as these go beyond what's necessary for them to know:

"What time did (person 1) usually leave home to go to work last week?"

"About how much do you think this house and lot, apartment, or mobile home (and lot, if owned) would sell for if it were for sale?"

"How many minutes did it usually take this person to get from home to work last week?"

"For whom did this person work?"

"What kind of business or industry was this?"

"What were this person's most important activities or duties?"

And my personal favorite:
"Does this house, apartment, or mobile home have--
hot and cold running water?
a flush toilet?
a bathtub or shower?
a sink with a faucet?
a stove or range?
telephone service from which you can both make and receive calls, including cell phones?"

I plan to answer the one and only question they need to know--how many people live at this address

I think when this was brought up a few times on PB previously, those that posted that they would be asking questions such as these were discredited.

So it ended up happening did it?

Sure did. And that's just a small sampling.

I had the pleasure of being randomly selected for the long form census too. Every time I looked at the form, I just got infuriated over the the questions and put it aside and forgot about it. One night, a nice lady working for the census bureau called to remind me that the deadline to return the form was approaching. I told her I had no intention of answering the questions except for the amount of people living at this address. She offered to read through each question and I could refuse to answer any that I didn't wish to respond to. I patiently explained that there was no need to go that much trouble; I could just tell her that one person lived here and he was of German descent which explained the stubborn streak and answered a total of three of their dang questions: one person, of German descent, and male. She laughed, thanked me, and was gone
