Like many Americans, Tim Childress of Dallas bought an American flag to help celebrate the Fourth of July.

He was a little taken aback, however, when he found that the flag bought at a Dollar Tree store not only has the requisite 50 stars denoting the states, it tacks on an extra 11 stars, WFAA-TV reports.

"You can kind of see the stars are all crooked, and if you count them, there's actually 61 stars," he said.

This American flag found for sale at Dollar Tree has either fallen through a crack in space and time from a future when the United States has annexed Canada, or the Chinese company that produced it screwed up. Dollar Tree, for its part, claims that the flag is a "patriotic banner" and not supposed to be a regulation American flag.

funny how fast we can go from 57 to 61...
