Congratulations, andybob and Mrs. andybob!

I am curious, were you in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe all your life before coming to the U.S.?

And were you in agriculture all that time?

Maple leaf, my dad was a civil engineer, so we moved around the southern African states on various contracts, he finally accepted a lecturing position at the Bulawayo college so we finally settled down (! schools later). I always kept animals both wild and domestic, so that by the time I left school I had a viable neucleus of cattle, pigs, goats and wiltiper sheep. I bought my first few titles to some uninproved land just before going into the army and used my pay and leave to begin on the infrastructure. When I left the army, I worked for the Department of Veterinary Services (meat hygiene) where I trained as a meat technologist while being paid. By working 5am to 1 pm. I had the time and finances to build up my ranching interest, especially the beef cattle, which were always my chief interest. When we left, as all my assets were frozen by the government, we initially went to Namibia wher I had a financial interest in a Tuli stud, we later went to England where we had access to much needed therapy (occupational and physio) for our two disabled sons. I was offered my present position while in England, and decided to try making our new start here!
Hope this was brief but to the point?

But fascinating it was. Thank you very much for your story. It sounds like you are a man who has seen both the good and ugly sides of life.

It makes me think that those of us who have had the privilege of being born and raised on this incredibly great continent usually fail to see how good we have it.
